I'm just wondering whats the best one.

My brothers paying for me and doing one himself (we have different dads)

I've got an ancestry account but I've let it lapse as it was expensive and I have forgotten my log in details anyway.

Any reviews please :)

I've just sent my sample off to Ancestry DNA, so won't get results for 6 to 8 weeks. There's a special offer at the moment, so I decided to try it. Don't know much about 23 And Me, but will be interesting to hear people's comments.

It depends what you want out of it. Ancestry has a larger user base, so you will get more matches.

Thanks both.
I am leaning towards ancestry as well. I'm not too bothered about the other bits 23 and me offer. I'm just interested to see where I come from I think.

Ancestry. Absolutely brilliant for solving mysteries in my family tree. DH is adopted and, although he doesn’t want to make contact with his bio family whilst his adopted mum is still alive, we have found out who his bio parents are thanks for an uncle and first and second cousin matches.

Blueberries0112 · 26/03/2021 00:43

I would do both if you are able to

23andme does haplogroup while ancestry doesn’t.

Ftdna is another my favorite

Blueberries0112 · 26/03/2021 00:43

Although it does seem most people from other countries do myheritage

Einszwei · 26/03/2021 00:55

You can download your raw data from ancestry and upload onto myheritage, ftdna and gedmatch for free!

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/03/2021 01:01

Ancestry. Much bigger database and you can download the data and upload as @Blueberries0112 says.

Blueberries0112 · 26/03/2021 01:12

I didn’t say but it is true.

I believe some people do my heritage because the location. I am not sure some countries will allow dna samples to be shipped to far. I was giving them another dna test they can do in case it doesn’t work out

Thats great think my mind is made up now

Something to think about before you decide to take the test: www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2019/08/12/world-must-prepare-biological-weapons-target-ethnic-groups-based/
