What do you buy your dc for Easter?

I tend to go a bit over board as i think I compensate for not having any family members involved to buy my dc anything at Easter time

I always tend to buy them one chocolate egg each, a small toy, and then some small eggs to do an Easter egg hunt with

This year I’ve got two bags of chocolate rabbits for them to hunt, I’ll get them an egg each as usual, but then I’m thinking of getting them a colouring book instead of a toy to try and cut down on costs

Dc are 6 and 8 (or at least will be 8 by the time Easter approaches)

We do an egg hunt, and have a little Easter tree up. My parents usually give the kids a £5er and that’s that really

Aebj · 25/03/2021 08:41

Couple of hunting eggs and a big egg each plus $10.

Soubriquet · 25/03/2021 08:41

Yeah my parents won’t buy my children anything... which is why I think I compensate

I’ve been seeing some shrink plastic colouring activities which I think I might do too Grin

We do similar, dc5 and 7. I have sticker books for them, then they get an egg from easter bunny & egg hunt and a toy/dressing up from us.

Thistimelastyear · 25/03/2021 08:42

How about an Easter themed book? There are lots about and it encourages reading.

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2021 08:42

I always got my daughter two or three eggs. Nows she’s 23 so this year she’s getting an eye wateringly expensive hotel chocolat one

You do you.

Iseeyoulookingatme · 25/03/2021 08:44

I've got a little bag that I fill with small Easter eggs and the odd craft bit plus he gets one egg of me and one of the Easter bunny. I end up eating most of it so I'm going to cut back on the chocolate this year and get more crafty bits instead.

Soubriquet · 25/03/2021 08:45

I like the Easter book idea

One child adores reading (she’s got several books coming tomorrow for her birthday) and the other tolerates it, as long as it’s dinosaur themed

I’m sure I could find a “dinosaur that pooped Easter” or something like that

We buy small eggs for an egg hunt. We also do an Easter box which contains a book, a craft kit and a chocolate bunny.

Norwaydidnthappen · 25/03/2021 09:02

They get books every year as well as a couple of eggs each and we do an egg hunt in the garden. Last year I got them wooden egg cups with their names on too because we couldn’t get our hands on as much chocolate as usual. My youngest is a baby so I got him a soft toy instead, I did this for them all as babies.

ChocOrange1 · 25/03/2021 09:10

Both my kids and I have birthdays in March so we don't do much for Easter. This year I have got DD4 some small wrapped eggs for a hunt in the garden, and DD1 a cuddly toy. They will each get a few small eggs from family members so I'll put those in the egg hunt as well.

Hotcuppatea · 25/03/2021 09:11

Just chocolate here. No books or anything.

Woodlandbelle · 25/03/2021 09:12

Mine are a similar age. They are getting a little Teddy - rabbits. Football Jersey and I will get a little egg in aldi. They know its a treat for being good on Lockdown.

BritInAus · 25/03/2021 11:17

I get my DD pyjamas... this year a ridiculous fluffy unicorn type onesie.
It seems to be a 'thing' in Australia, new PJs for easter - coming into the cooler weather, so lots of winter PJs, slippers etc about.
Also a chocolate egg/bowl/spoon/mug set and a small toy. Our neighbours will go mad with an easter egg hunt so I won't do loads of chocolate.

lollipoprainbow · 25/03/2021 11:19

I definitely go overboard due to also having few close family. I make my dd 8.5 a hamper with Easter eggs, Easter bunny, one present.

Ninkanink · 25/03/2021 11:22

My daughters are grown up but still quite young. I bought them each a medium sized Lindt White chocolate bunny and a small pack of Ferrero Rocher, plus a packet of Galaxy rose gold milk mini chocolate eggs and a packet of Bahlsen Chovolate Orange biscuits to share between them.

We’ve not seen them in 9 months and I thought they would appreciate a little Easter surprise from us. It’s different when you haven’t bought chocolate for yourself! Smile

mindutopia · 25/03/2021 11:23

We do an egg hunt with some small chocolate eggs and fruit (mine love fruit, so it's a carry over from when they were too little to have much chocolate...only the final egg would have chocolate in it). We don't buy big chocolate eggs as usually all manor of random family members send one and we end up with like 6 and that's already 4 too many.

ArcheryAnnie · 25/03/2021 11:24

Just chocolate, in various bunny- and egg-related shapes. No other presents of any kind: Easter is not a present-giving occasion, and that way madness lies.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 25/03/2021 11:34

I have some plastic eggs for the hunt (I don't like hiding sweets and chocolate outside... Hang over from living in a country where they were liable to be covered in ants within minutes, and melted before that!).
Their grandparents have sent chocolate and Lego. I might buy a book and a beanie boo (they collect them). But probably no more chocolate as they have more than enough. (As in 4 or5 each from relatives, and big ones at that!)

MolotovMocktail · 25/03/2021 11:35

I do a small basket of themed goodies which is delivered by the Easter Bunny - a little soft toy, a book, maybe a puzzle or game, stickers and other craft stuff to keep him busy during the holidays. DS doesn’t have a sweet tooth so I don’t buy much chocolate, just a couple of packs of mini foil wrapped eggs for an egg hunt which I then eat myself once he’s forgotten about them Grin

Fifthtimelucky · 25/03/2021 11:36

Mine never had anything except chocolate - usually one main egg and then various small ones for hiding.

Bouledeneige · 25/03/2021 11:37

My kids are grown up now but I only ever got the kids a big egg each and then little ones to hunt. They never got anything from family.

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 25/03/2021 11:38

An Easter egg.

BettyOBarley · 25/03/2021 11:38

This year I've got them one big egg each, plus a small £1 one and other little bunny shaped chocs etc. Some eggs for an egg hunt and some easter craft stuff, but that's mainly to keep them occupied in the school hols!

Crikeymalikey · 25/03/2021 11:50

This post has made me realise I buy them far too much chocolate... so I’ve decided to do the right thing and eat some of it Grin
