What do you buy your dc for Easter?

I tend to go a bit over board as i think I compensate for not having any family members involved to buy my dc anything at Easter time

I always tend to buy them one chocolate egg each, a small toy, and then some small eggs to do an Easter egg hunt with

This year I’ve got two bags of chocolate rabbits for them to hunt, I’ll get them an egg each as usual, but then I’m thinking of getting them a colouring book instead of a toy to try and cut down on costs

Dc are 6 and 8 (or at least will be 8 by the time Easter approaches)

Lots of chocolate Grin

@BritInAus

I get my DD pyjamas... this year a ridiculous fluffy unicorn type onesie. It seems to be a 'thing' in Australia, new PJs for easter - coming into the cooler weather, so lots of winter PJs, slippers etc about. Also a chocolate egg/bowl/spoon/mug set and a small toy. Our neighbours will go mad with an easter egg hunt so I won't do loads of chocolate.
New clothes at Easter is a tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. I wonder whether that’s just dropped out of use almost completely in the last 50+ years in the U.K., but Australia have just moved onto a different item of clothing that’s more useful than a new dress for church.

Coming into the summer here, we always used to get new swimming stuff.

I have 2 dc 10 and 5, I do up and Easter basket each with two chocolate eggs, little chocolate bunnies and 2 packets of hotlips crisps as they love them. We buy chocolates to hide around the house.

Over the years it has evolved into 1 big egg each, and then I do an egg hunt in the garden with loads of little eggs and a gold Lindt bunny each.
This year they have to wear fluffy bunny ears or they cannot take part. Two teens and primary age.
Grin
They’ll do anything for chocolate!

An egg each & books

yoshiblue · 25/03/2021 13:25

I tend to buy my son a couple of presents to go with an Easter egg as his birthday is October/Christmas so close together.

I've bought him a couple of books, Jenga and a Pokemon woolly sheep this year.

Thesearmsofmine · 25/03/2021 13:31

They have one main egg and then an egg hunt for some of the mini eggs you can buy in the nets. Usually I also buy a book, activity or little toy, this year I picked up some playmobil egg things in the clearance for about £1.50 for my younger two and the older one will probably have a new book. In the past I have done bubble wands, seeds, bath bombs etc, nature I spy books. Just something small and entertaining and Easter/Spring themed.

Sirzy · 25/03/2021 13:33

Ds doesn’t eat chocolate so I tend to bet him a book or something similar instead

onemouseplace · 25/03/2021 13:33

An easter egg each, and some small ones for a hunt if we remember in time and they're not all sold out.

MinnieMountain · 25/03/2021 13:50

Normally an egg from us and one from MIL. DS will hunt for them both a our respective houses.

This year I’ve added some Lego Headz Easter characters to the hunt.

nitsandwormsdodger · 25/03/2021 14:12

As it's lock down I will be being a bit extra and getting getting a film down load or three, a big egg doing an egg hunt with our bubble may be a toy treat

BloodyHellAudrey · 25/03/2021 14:23

Small eggs for a trail, Couple of larger eggs, he's got a new outfit for Easter Sunday, a kids bible, and then I'll get him a couple of bits. He's 4 and last year I bought far too much chocolate, we were eating it for months and he's not that interested in it.

He's got money off my grandma and my parents were talking about maybe getting him a new tablet or something.

MM321 · 25/03/2021 14:35

First Easter and DS has this 🤣🤣🤣 it was an absolute bargain and I couldn’t resist! 🐥 Have a couple of Easter books too!

minniemoocher · 25/03/2021 14:45

When they were that age a smallish egg eg buttons each plus a few little for egg hunting. I also often bought them a new summer dress each, they liked to dress up for church and it would be used all summer for nice occasions

Username0981237645 · 25/03/2021 14:50

Off topic but how nice would an autumnal Easter be though I am anything for an hot chocolate and a blanket to be honest

LaBellina · 25/03/2021 14:53

I saw a cute little coffret made of tin with little Easter eggs inside. I think I’ll buy DS this.
His grandmother has sent him a big chocolate Lindt bunny.

ineedanewbum · 25/03/2021 14:58

I leave a little bucket outside their bedrooms with some chocolate sweets in. Then we do an egg hunt but use loads of fake eggs which I then put away to use again next year. Then 1 chocolate easter egg each that they'll find during the egg hunt. Kids love it and works well for us as they use the fake eggs to make their own egg hunt for a few days before they're put away. Its loads of fun.

52andblue · 25/03/2021 15:10

They are 13 and 16 now.
Never been given anything from family.
I tended to do lots of wee eggs plus 1 large one for the egg hunt.
Now its a fancy egg or £20 for ds who isn't mad keen on choc now.

Rememberallball · 25/03/2021 15:21

I asked DH what we were going to get DTSs for Easter and we decided we aren’t going to bother - they’re 19m only and get chocolate sometimes as part of a meal (few buttons after lunch for example) they have no need for eggs or presents as they’re too young to understand what it’s all about. No one else will be buying them anything either.

Notquitesureaboutthis · 25/03/2021 15:26

Mine are 4 and 6.

I've got them a fluffy bunny toy and a chocolate egg each from Poundland.

Some smaller Easter themed chocolates from Poundland for an egg hunt.

An Easter themed sticker book each from Amazon.

Oh and a £3 dress each - spring themed.

£10 spent on each DC I guess.

lockdownrainbow · 25/03/2021 16:01

4 eggs

Fairyliz · 25/03/2021 16:23

My DC’s are in their 20’s so they get £30. Something makes me think they spend it on things other than Easter eggs Grin

Cowbells · 25/03/2021 16:28

Just Easter eggs. When they were little I'd also get them a fluffy rabbit or chicken and make chocolate krispie nests and maybe some craft stuff.

badlydrawnbear · 25/03/2021 17:15

Something like a book or craft thing or a cheap item of clothing from H&M. DH gets chocolate eggs and does an egg hunt. This year I have got them a rock painting set they were looking at online.

35andThriving · 25/03/2021 19:21

I don't usually, but this year a large Easter egg, some smaller eggs for an egg hunt and an activity book.
