I'm not sure I want to know the answer, but is anyone able to translate some teen slang for me?

I just saw that a bloke has posted on DD's Instagram 'jumpers fire my guy'. I've not really been able to work it out but the little I have found has made my heart sink. She's 20, so an adult but has made some very poor decisions in the last year which make me think she can be a bit vulnerable.

Anyone able to translate for me?

OP posts:

Jumpers = up for it
Lights my fire = gets me going

That is NOT 'teen speak.' 😆
TheBigBaboon · 25/03/2021 01:59

@CirqueDeMorgue

I'm doing a sleep in, just asked the 6 teens I'm looking after. 5 out of the 6 said the above.

Who knows what teens mean !

CirqueDeMorgue · 25/03/2021 02:03

You sure they're not winding you up? Grin

Didn't seem to be Hmm

I think they are. They’re the only teens on the thread that have said anything like that

@Kona84

I take it to mean your jumper makes me hard Lights the fire in his ‘guy’ Gets him going.
Absolutely not 😂😂

OP, it literally just means he likes the jumper.

1forAll74 · 25/03/2021 03:36

If she is at UNI, and now an adult, she will be mixing with all kinds of people, who will use all kinds of talk stuff, that you have never heard of. I would not be worrying about this, and wouldn't even mention this to her.

quietautistic · 25/03/2021 03:36

I'm 22 and my friends and I use quite a lot of slang, and if I said this to a friend I would be telling them I liked their top. It's pretty common phrasing; I can't imagine it having any other meaning, really, unless it's a super-specific in-joke. I call all my friends 'my guy' or 'my dude' regardless of gender, 'fire' just means something is really cool or fashionable, and I've never heard 'jumper' refer to anything but the item of clothing. Hopefully that might reassure you at least a little Smile

PandemicAtTheDisco · 25/03/2021 04:24

It can be used for amphetamines - using them can lead to marathon sex sessions.

I'd say it's most likely referring to drugs.

MawnyStannit · 25/03/2021 05:08

Dear God, it’s not referring to drugs. My eldest makes clothes for a living and constantly gets comments on his social media about his stuff being fire. It’s literally saying I like your jumper dude.

SecretRedhead · 25/03/2021 06:37

"I'm going to think about how to approach this."

OP, I cannot stress this enough - there is nothing to approach. Please ignore the absolute idiots who are telling you it's to do with oral sex or drugs or some other nefarious thing. Its literally translated as "your jumper is cool". Please Do Not have a talk with your daughter about enjoying giving oral sex over this comment. This is a hell of an overreaction.

Plumedenom · 25/03/2021 06:42

Oh shit. I'm old. Can someone please give me a run-down of teen speak please before my kids hit adolescence and I'm lost?!

TTCAbroad · 25/03/2021 06:43

I agree with everyone else that he is complimenting someone's jumper.

You mentioned that all of the pictures have other people in them. He very well could be talking about someone else.

therocinante · 25/03/2021 07:32

Urban Dictionary is nonsense and almost none of the definitions are legit outside of a particular friendship group.

It literally just means he likes her jumper (source: have 15 year old sister and spend too much time on Tiktok)

therocinante · 25/03/2021 07:33

Also 'sounds like drugs' made me laugh out loud, how on earth? 😂

JaneJeffer · 25/03/2021 07:46

She's 20. Stop stalking her comments.

Dunno! Made me laugh too!! Grin
TheDaydreamBelievers · 25/03/2021 08:13

I would say he likes her jumper or jumpsuit/playsuit (if shes wearing one of these). I have never heard jumper used as sex slang (I work with young people) and also Urban dictionary should be called urban fictionary as the terms are never used.

seadreams · 25/03/2021 09:46

@TheBigBaboon

Jumpers = up for it Lights my fire = gets me going
Except you've totally misquoted the OP! The comment didn't say 'lights my fire' which could be interpreted as you said, (but no young person would ever actually say that) it says the jumpers IS fire. Which without a doubt doesn't mean anything other than your jumper looks really good.

And how does 'up for it gets me going' make any sense as a sentence???

Viviennemary · 25/03/2021 11:06

Glad it made you laugh. Jumpers can be a slang term for amphetamines. Not very funny.

SummerOne · 25/03/2021 11:47

I haven't read the full thread so sorry if this has been said, but could he be saying she has a nice jumper and it be his which she is wearing? I am of a similar age (a bit older!) and have seen this many times

Thehawki · 25/03/2021 12:02

Jumper- her top

Fire- looks great

my guy- my friend

I’m 23 and a lot of my friends (some a little younger) talk like this to each other, so I’m pretty sure that’s what he means. Have you ever seen kids on Instagram post the 🔥🔥🔥 fire emojis? That’s basically what he’s doing, he’s just saying he likes her top.
