Best hot chocolate powder for milk?

I love a mug of hot chocolate before bed. Always had Cadbury but not enjoying it much recently. Suggestions for a drinking chocolate that you use with milk not water?

Good quality cocoa powder and sugar.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/03/2021 20:01

Or grated chocolate if you're very fancy.

Drawingablank · 24/03/2021 20:03

Green & blacks. I love the cocoa powder, but their hot chocolate is also nice (although too sweet for my tastes)

Charbonnel et Walker.

Green & Blacks cocoa powder. You can add as much sugar as you like (I have a sweet tooth and yet I don't need to add much sugar to this) Have heard great things about the Hotel Chocolat powder too, but my local supermarket sells the G&B and its yummy so I've just stuck with that.

I like the asda extra special one. Just as good as green and blacks but cheaper

The whittards sticky toffee one is good too

MrsCalypsoGrant · 24/03/2021 20:08

Bettys do a gorgeous one, I've bought it in the shops attached to their tea rooms, not sure if you can order it online 🤔

Floralnomad · 24/03/2021 20:08

Nesquick , they do an actual hot chocolate version but we use the normal one , I don’t find it as sweet as some of the other brands .

Twinings luxury hot chocolate is lovely

pheasantsinlove · 24/03/2021 20:11

Whittards 70% coco is my favourite... sooo rich and luxurious tasting!

They do lots of flavours of hot chocolate too... Treat yourself to one of the tins with all the flavour samples ...

Another vote for Whittards here. Got some for Christmas and the kids keep snaffling it

hotchocdrinker · 24/03/2021 20:17

Another vote for charbonnel and Walker, which my local Waitrose sells. See my username - I have tried many many hot chocolates so you don't have to...!!

GrumpyHoonMain · 24/03/2021 20:18

Melt some dark chocolate buttons slowly into milk - montezuma’s 73% chocolate ones are good for this

LettyLoman · 24/03/2021 20:20

Galaxy powder tastes like chocolate. Melting chocolate is a faff but done slowly with cream is amazing.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 24/03/2021 20:21

Charbonnel et Walker is delicious and the Twinnings one is my back up. I believe in hot chocolate all year round Wink

bellagogosdead · 24/03/2021 20:21

Not a powder, but I am really loving the sweet freedom syrup I got mine from Lidl for a bit less than this- it seems like a real treat.

mamaisme · 24/03/2021 20:22

Caotina Swiss hot chocolate is delicious.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 24/03/2021 20:25

Real cocoa powder, or chocolate milkshake powder.

FindMeInTheSunshine · 24/03/2021 20:27

Choceur from Aldi - great as it hasn't got sweetener. I was disappointed in Charbonnel and Walker!

Caspianberg · 24/03/2021 20:28

Caotina. They have milk, white or dark versions ( we have all three)

LunaNorth · 24/03/2021 20:30

Green and Blacks. Yum.

H1978 · 24/03/2021 20:42

Twinnings is very chocolatey and gorgeous 😋

TheVanguardSix · 24/03/2021 20:46

Monbana: Salon De The chocolate powder is the best I have ever had in my life. I am a staunch loyalist.
It comes with a huge scoop. I use one full scoop per mug. It has sugar crystals in the cocoa powder but I do add a bit more (for my liking). I stir it up with a bit of hot water to make a bit of a liquidy paste, then fill it up with milk, pop it in the microwave and voila! Heaven! You can find it on Amazon.

MrsColinRobinson · 24/03/2021 20:48

Aldi's own luxury powder or Spanish Chocolate from the Spanish Chocolate Company.

willitgetworse · 24/03/2021 21:00

Marks and Spencer is by far the best, rich and decadent without the artificial taste.
Also as PP have said the whittards ones are also fabulous.
But I always reach for the marks one

Actually I'm going to make one now
