Clothes shops reopening

As we get nearer to non essential shops reopening I just wonder what people's thoughts are about whether we will be able to try clothes on? I'm not really expecting to be able to but wonder when this will happen? I live around 15 miles from any decent shops and if I can't try on I may as well continue online ordering and just be able to take returns to my local post office rather than drive 15 miles back again!

I doubt they will. Some shops have always had them open, superdry as an example. I need some summer clothes. But I really am fed up with buying different sizes of things to see if they fit.

If only shops had uniform sizes. I have to try a couple of different sizes and sometimes different lengths in trousers and am fed up sending stuff back! But I'm not encouraged to shop on the high street sadly until I can try things in.

I need jeans. But I need to try them on. I've sent back about 12 pairs and getting a bit fed up with it.

I’ve lost 8 stone in weight and I’m in desperate need of new clothes but I have no idea what size I am, I don’t want to order 4 different sizes of everything I need so I bloody hope we can try things on!

I think the original panic about touching items is getting better.

I have a holiday cottage and I’m allowed to put my DVDs back in!

I feel like I’m never going to enjoy clothes shopping, or a nice casual snoop around the shops, or a mill around a department store. Or tea & cake while in Town. Ever again... It’s depressing!
Felt like a criminal when I went to a shopping centre, at Christmas, every time I went too near another person (impossible not to). I was panicked the whole time & couldn’t look at anything I wanted to (didn’t spend much money!)
Does anyone else feel that things will never be the same again? We’ll never feel the same freedoms as before? (maybe things were like this post-war, or in places where there’s trouble etc... Not a unique situation)

Haudyourwheesht · 24/03/2021 22:32

@DragonPoop 8 stone? That's amazing! Well done! Star

DragonPoop · 24/03/2021 22:40

@Haudyourwheesht thank you! I went out for a walk earlier and my trousers nearly dropped to my ankles Blush In desperate need of a stock up of everything!!

I work in a clothes store and I assume we won’t be reopening ours. Problem is we don’t have the staff to serve customers and constantly makes sure everything is sanitised. We just about have enough staff to cover shifts. I know a lot of companies are operating with less staff as people shielding etc.

Charity shops. Perusing charity shops seeking out treasures.

God I miss it

I've never liked trying clothes on in shops, anyway - usually get a couple of sizes online and send one or both back. This kind of shopping is my usual kind of shopping!
