zombie threads

hi. maybe this is better in the site stuff forum but curious. i have looked out of interest at many threads that i thought of commenting on to then suddenly realise they are 6 to 11 years old. what is the policy to zombie threads other than reporting them? its not like the 6 year later posts are the OP updating on dc's journey etc. so curious?

Surely it depends? Something they can be about something relevant and new posters can then add to the comments. I’ve never seen the issue with zombie threads as long as those posting realise what they are and reply accordingly.

not if the OP comes back to the thread to update everyone on what's happening. but most of the time what seems to happen is th post has been left for so long that the OP either deosn't want to have any further comment or left mn etc

...as long as those posting realise what they are and reply accordingly

But that is exactly the problem.

People spend time replying to the opening post and fail to notice the date or that there have been hundreds and hundreds of posts, or that 6 of the posts immediately above theirs are pointing out that it is a zombie thread.

Yes, we can all get caught out,but not even bothering to look at the most recent posts makes me query whether I would want to take advice from someone who has absolutely no interest in what anyone else has to say.
