Your 15/16 year old former self?

I think to be honest 15 16 year old me would be so disappointed. I just don't feel like I've achieved anything, then again this is all I was expected to achieve so maybe she would be disappointed but not surprised.

Notable · 24/03/2021 17:14

Probably faintly amused but mostly just surprised I’m alive Grin

LindaEllen · 24/03/2021 17:16

She'd be happy she'd lost so much weight! But 20s me would be gutted I'd gained so much weight 😂.

I'm more attractive than I would ever, ever have imagined myself being at 15!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 24/03/2021 17:25

Horrified in very many ways.
I live in a town exactly like the one she's trying to escape from.
I married someone from the town she's trying to escape from.
I do a job she said she'd never do.
Oh and I'm disabled and haven't aged well.
She would be happy about the car and pets and would probably get on with the teenager.

Terrysmyorange · 24/03/2021 17:29

Happy I had a family and a career (of sorts)
Disappointed I didn't travel more or own a gorgeous little cottage somewhere Confused

IEat · 24/03/2021 17:33

I would wonder why the fuck I was needy in. relationships in my 20, a total doormat in my relationships in my 30s.. but she’s be so happy with my confidence in my 40s (and complete lack of relationships!!)

Bringonthebloodydrama · 24/03/2021 17:34

Amazed at the 3 kids and dog...would like the husband and cat.

Sad she couldn't wear hipsters and crop tops any more.

Flabbergasted the glam sounding career was a bit shit and stunned at the choice of retraining.

Glad she could drive.

Gutted she didn't marry Damon from Blur

SleepySlugs · 24/03/2021 17:37

Incredibly proud and happy.. Which is nice to think, I often feel the opposite of myself.

museumum · 24/03/2021 17:38

She’d think me pretty boring now (age 44) I guess but she’d be pretty impressed at stuff I’ve done and places I’ve been.
She’d be utterly shocked and confused about how/why I’d managed to end up overweight. At that age I ate crap and never gained a lb - I eat much more healthily now ironically.

Tiktokersmiracle · 24/03/2021 17:39

@AgnesNaismith

She’d be disappointed I didn’t marry Leonardo DiCaprio, shun cars to ride horses everywhere and live cut off from society on a beach.
Yeah my 15 year old self would be very miffed I wasn't Mrs Mark Owen or Mrs Robbie Williams Blush
HowAboutAH0tCupOfShutTheHellUp · 24/03/2021 17:47

She'd be really happy! She would love my DH, would be obsessed with my dogs and would adore my lovely cottage in the countryside. I think she would be impressed with my career choice and salary! She would be pleased that I stuck by my guns and chose not to have children.... but wouldn't approve at all that I was thinking about TTC after years of saying absolutely no way, babies are yuk Grin

DarcyJack · 24/03/2021 17:48

Shed be pleased and amazed. She had very little confidence that she could do adulting and have a career. But turns out she could.

Catsrus · 24/03/2021 17:50

she might be a bit disappointed that she wasn't a Vet, but would be thrilled (& frankly gobsmacked) at the career she'd had - and the fact that she'd been married, divorced AND had kids. That was never on the radar.

She would love where she now lives and adore the dogs.

HermitsLife · 24/03/2021 17:53

She'd be confused as to why I'm not living the rock star life style she planned.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/03/2021 17:53

I don't think she'd know me to be honest

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 24/03/2021 17:55

Utterly horrified, disgusted and would rather die than turn out like me.

longtimemarried · 24/03/2021 17:57

I think she would be delighted I had a long and happy marriage to a wonderful man. Had a really good job, after indifferent schooling, and raised children whom I am immensely proud of.

Chimeraforce · 24/03/2021 18:03

She'd shake her head and say "remember those adverts for sleeping musculature vs toned musculature? Omg you've got that sleeping one. What happened to the girl who did 350 sit ups a day?
Why on earth are you doing that office job? You love being outside with nature.
Why didn't you shag more men or work abroad or leave your shitty hometown?
Why did you have a kid? Yuk!

GracieLouFreebushh · 24/03/2021 18:11

She would think her current boyfriend has continued to get better looking as he's aged and glad future her married him!! Probably a bit shocked at how lovely her life has turned out - probably not believed she had the confidence to go to uni and pursue a career (not confident or many similar role models).
However would probably wish she travelled more before she settled down and shocked and disappointed at how shit her social life has become!!!

Wonderfulthings · 24/03/2021 18:13

Delighted that despite living in different parts of the world for many years, and currently at opposite ends of the country, her beloved, hilarious best friend is still mine!

TedDansononmyown · 24/03/2021 18:17

So, so disappointed.
The 16 year old me would not accept the hand she's been dealt. She'd kick the fuck off and be so proactive in making changes.
Adult me is just so tired.

Will0wtree · 24/03/2021 18:19

Disappointed I haven't become a vampire yet, nor written a Hugo Nebula award winning novel.

She will stay disappointed for some time I fear.

However I have, unexpectedly, become Margaret Rutherford, she didn't see that coming!

babbaloushka · 24/03/2021 18:21

I think she'd be pleased, and would like my DDs.

PassionForFashion · 24/03/2021 18:22

@Arrowheart

I'm crying at my answer to this. I feel like I give nothing in life and I have no purpose. Honestly feel I wouldn't be missed if I went. Feeling so low today. I'd want to apologise to my 15 year old self for being so pathetic and not making anything of my life.
So sorry you're feeling so sad. I do hope things will improve for you ASAP. You obviously didn’t want what’s happening to you, please be softer and kinder to yourself, you deserve it and you need it.

Please let us know how you’re getting on.

BiBabbles · 24/03/2021 18:22

15/16-me would be surprised I've survived this long.

Relieved that all the goals had been achieved (wanted to finish high school, move as far away as possible, and go to college - didn't think much beyond that in survival mode).

Sad and a bit confused how lonely I feel sometimes when I live with others (I spent a lot of time alone at that age, weeks at a time without seeing even a parent) and that I still rely on some of the same coping techniques. I thought I just needed to move away, to be free from my parents and their addictions and problems, and that would cure everything, that if I felt loved by someone then everything else would fall into place. It helps a fuckton, but rebuilding myself has been a lot more work than teen-me thought it would be.

She'd think I was lucky to be so taken care of.

And she'd be really weirded out that I have a 16 year old DS who is maybe a little too similar.
