Toxic manager and anxiety

Hi just after a bit of advice.
New manager started 6 months ago and I have been off sick for 4 months (not work related). I’m due back next week and struggling with anxiety and loss of confidence.
Things weren’t great when I went off sick and have got worse in the past few months as half the team have left due to the manager.
I’m worried about returning and I know I need to tell her about the anxiety but I don’t know if I should. 😢

Will you have a return to work meeting? Can you ask HR to be present at that? What about a phased return where you build up to your usual total hours?

@IstandwithJackieWeaver I am having a phased return which will help a lot .
We don't have a HR department.

What's the procedure then if there is no HR function? There needs to be some sort of meeting with your manager to discuss expectations and what help you might need. Once that meeting has taken place you can confirm what was agreed by email - a good manager should do that, but if not you can then do that.

@IstandwithJackieWeaver I'm not sure of the procedure as I haven't been off ill before. I know a return to work is done with the manager once I am back.

Why don't you contact them and ask? It might help to put your mind at rest.
