In DDads work he was an engineer and early on in his career he was designing a piece of equipment that would fit onto another piece of equipment and cost about a million quid.

It was produced, sent to site, and they got a message back that it didn't fit. He'd designed it the wrong way round.

He spent a week thinking, that's it, my careers over, and eventually went into the heads office to confess. The head just turned to him and said oh don't worry, we sent it somewhere else.

I like the way it is reported as a "small digger". Nope it's a perfectly normal sized digger! It's the ship that is bloody massive! It's very new, so it will be one of the biggest on the sea.

Once when I was walking home a bus had managed to get wedged the entire width of the road. The driver had taken a wrong turn up that road and tried to turn his way out of it, and it turned out (heh) that the road's width curb to curb was the exact distance between the front and back tires. So he got stuck. As I was walking up I happened to pass him with someone from HQ traffic control who was being really supportive. The driver was hanging his head and choking up, saying "I just feel so ashamed" and HQ guy was all "now, don't be feeling like that, we can all have a bad day, we'll soon have this sorted!". I wonder if someone is having that chat with Suez channel guy

Where I live delivery drivers get stuck all the time if they use off the shelf sat navs.

I was approaching one once and a helpful local was telling the driver who was stuck "you didn't want to come this way, mate".
