Have just had our sitting room decorated. The walls are denim/navy with a now white floor - the plan was to sand and varnish the floorboards but they were in a bad way.

I like the floor but it does make the room look cold. Any ideas for rug colours please?!

What's your budget? If the somewhat indulgent range you can get amazing made to measure liberty etc from alternative flooring. com. We have a massive one which covers almost the whole living room floor with wooden flooring. Cost a bomb but is a source of great joy.

I don't want to spend too much as have an aging cat, a young puppy and 4 dc! Say between £100 - £150?

What about a lighter blue patterned rug?

Or for practicality, medium or dark taupe, or mid or charcoal grey. Jazz it up by changing cushion covers.
