Worth getting a dash cam?

I’m going to ask here if anyone knows. Is it worth getting a dash cam? My reason is my ex , he uses underhanded tactics and I’ve been told by people that know him that he could get someone to damage my car? I know it sounds silly but he has done it to others and only couple of months ago made a little threat. I can’t proof anything but I was wondering if I get a dash cam would it help detect if anything happen? Thank you

Most dashcams have collision detectors. So if they feel an impact to the car, they will start recording even if engine is off. But they will only record what they can see i.e. the front of the car. And the back if you get one fitted there too. But not the sides.
