mystery envelope

We received a letter in the post, stamped, franked by royal mail.
It was an unsealed self-seal envelope, with the sticky-strip peel-off cover still intact, so had never been sealed. Nothing at all in it.
Properly addressed with the postcode, but addressed to "A Neighbour"
??

oooh is this a new form of chain letter Grin

ismiseeire · 23/03/2021 21:50

Christ.

ismiseeire · 23/03/2021 21:51

I'd say a novena.

MrsFin · 23/03/2021 21:53

Have you listened to The Doorstep Murder podcast? If you haven't, don't!

AmongUs · 23/03/2021 21:56

Was 'A Neighbour' hand written or typed?

BluTangClan · 23/03/2021 22:18

I think the Jehovah's Witnesses are sending loads of handwritten letters out at the moment. I suppose lockdown has curtailed their doorstep bothering and they found alternative strategies.

Idontlikethatnameanymore · 23/03/2021 22:23

We had one today from the Jehovah’s too, hand written letter and a leaflet.
I guess they forgot to stuff your envelope.

Idontlikethatnameanymore · 23/03/2021 22:24

I thought it was quite sweet, and the author had signed it with her name and email address but I’m not tempted.

reprehensibleme · 23/03/2021 22:28

JWs - they can't doorstep at the moment due to covid so are sending 'handwritten' letters.

PizzaBreath · 23/03/2021 22:31

We got a similar JW one today too, the lady supposedly lived around the corner though, I couldn’t get past the point of why put a stamp on it?!

JaneJeffer · 23/03/2021 22:45

Spoiler alert. Dot took the list. ....

hellcatspangle · 23/03/2021 22:47

There wasn't actually a letter though? Just an empty envelope?

MolyHolyGuacamole · 23/03/2021 22:52

@ismiseeire

I'd say a novena.
This made me snort
aibutohavethisusername · 23/03/2021 23:16

Could be from Network Rail.

Stoppissingonmyheather · 24/03/2021 00:00

Invisible ink in code probably hold a torch behind it see if there is a secret message

user127820 · 24/03/2021 09:33

It's probably a general letter sent by somebody to everyone in the area (such as JWs for example as mentioned), but they forgot to put the letter in your envelope. It can easily happen when you're stuffing lots of envelopes in a hurry.

BobBobBobbin · 24/03/2021 09:35

Another vote for JW missed an envelope in the stuffing process.

We received one of these the other day, 2 sides of A5 handwritten!
Hotcuppatea · 24/03/2021 09:38

We received a handwritten JW novena yesterday too. There's a lot of it about.

Seeline · 24/03/2021 09:38

Can you check with your neighbours to see if anyone else had one -preferably with the contents!

idontlikealdi · 24/03/2021 09:39

JW - we got one too -sounds like they've forgotten to put the letter in though!

Noidea2114 · 24/03/2021 09:41

We received a letter addressed to 'our dear neighbour' our son and daughter live in different parts of our town and they have received the same letter.
DM lives in a town about 10 miles away and she has got one as well. (Cheshire)
They are from the JW. Must have cost a fortune in stamps.

iwishiwasatcentralperk · 24/03/2021 09:48

I had one last week entitled Dear Neighbour, this was also from the JW from a town around 20 miles away.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 24/03/2021 09:50

I had one like that with a letter from Jehovah's witnesses

Beancounter1 · 24/03/2021 20:24

Hi everyone
Yes, hand written. I will ask around to see if anyone else had a letter from JW
