Just looking for advice/experiences on living with tinnitus. Had it for a few months now, some days better than others but generally finding it hard going.

I’ve lived with it for years. It’s got worse recently-although a lot worse when I think about it like now.

Going to sleep with sounds - audiobook or Netflix playing is helpful. I’ve got an app for during the day if it’s too bad. It lets you mix your own white noise. For me, water noise block out the sounds.

You have my sympathy-it’s very distressing.

I've suffered with tinnitus for about 30yrs, just a constant humming in my ears like you'd get if you'd been to a concert. It's louder at night so I just pop a podcast on to fall asleep to.

You have my fully sympathy, I would love just to have silence for a few minutes

I've got different fluctuating tones in each ear that change quite regularly and a high pitched head hiss 😔

Have you had your hearing checked? Mine is caused by hearing loss. Weirdly, it's in my ear with the better hearing.

I've had it for about 3 years now. It's worse when I am tired or it's quiet. Other times, I think my brain switches off to it

I have a fan on at night which helps

Pinkpowderpuff · 23/03/2021 20:30

Hearing was fine when I had it checked in November.

I'm trying to take one day at a time and not think about the future as it's too depressing to think I'll have this struggle for the rest of my life.

Get you B12 checked just in case it's the cause.

Pinkpowderpuff · 24/03/2021 16:52

Had it checked a few months back. All fine.

Mine has stayed the same for the last few years. But. I no longer sit in silence. When I’m reading I have a playlist on my phone of classical music that I have on to dull the ringing sound in my head.
Sadly you do get used to it. And u find ways to live with it. I used to wear earplugs to bed. But they just make it so I can just head the ringing. Now I listen to a play or something just to take the edge of the noise.

I've had it for years and, though it's no quieter, I hardly notice it and don't let it bother me at all. There's no cure (though there are some useful tips to living with it - try Tinnitus Support Group UK on FB) and it's not life threatening. I can sit in an otherwise quiet space and actually listen to it now - it's just an unwelcome lodger in my head. Try not to stress or get anxious, stay hydrated and be kind to yourself 💐
