Thought I would start another one of these threads as loved the last one and got loads of great film recommendations from it...

I’ll start off...

Dear Zachery
We need to talk about Kevin
It’s a Wonderful life

I’ll add more as they come to me...

I always say Pans Labyrinth on these film threads, I love love love it and am always so moved by it even though it is also quite brutal.

I rewatched Moon last week and loved that all over again too.

Watched a film called Gifted at the weekend and it was a heart tugger too

Jojo Rabbit, simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming.

Rogue One. I know it's a Star Wars film but it was really moving, especially as I knew from the main films that they weren't going to make it back from their mission.

Up, but only the opening montage. I'd just lost a baby and put it on thinking that Disney would cheer me up. Fuckers ripped that rug right put frombunder me and I ended up sobbing under a blanket for the next hour.

Love up!!

Thought of another one Heaven and Earth..

About the brutality of Vietnam, IDMB does rate it that high but I remember watching as a teenager as being really moved!

The book We need to talk about Kevin is gripping, unapologetically uncomfortable reading.

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas
The Pursuit Of Happiness
Blood Diamond
The Green Mile

SweetMandarin · 23/03/2021 20:02

Les Intouchables.

Also, Jack Frost. It's about a young boy who loses his father close to Christmas but his father is reincarnated as a snowman.

I lost my dad when I was 6 in the run up to Christmas and my teacher put this on for the class to watch about a week after losing my dad. I still have clear memories of me crying into my hands at my desk.

Film about a quadriplegic and his hired carer, in French but I stopped noticing.

Wind that shakes the barley
Precious. The bit where she sobs about how she was worth saving but no one saved her made me weep
The Pianist
Manchester By The Sea
