Another where to meet question - Nottingham/ Doncaster area

After 29 March I’d like to meet my parents somewhere between us and them. Ideally near A1 or M1. Previously we’ve met at Clumber Park, but parents won’t be keen on the booking system. We’ve also used Sherwood Forest (Forestry commission park) but it was quite a long way from the motorway and packed. We want to be able to have picnic, short walk and ideally buy a coffee (and have loos), ideas very welcome

What about some of the English Heritage properties? There are a quite a few between the two places.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/03/2021 20:59

I parkrun with a friend at Rother Valley Country Park.

Cusworth House has a park if you have kids, a big hill to sit on and picnic, loos and a lovely lake at the bottom of the hill to walk round (if you don’t mind the walk back up!) and it’s not far off the A1.

Brodsworth is lovely if it's open, or the flash at Sprotborough (ditto). The flash is a tiny nature reserve, but there's a pub right by the entrance.

Creswell Craggs looks amazing, never heard of that, but looks ideal. Unfortunately closed at the moment, might be open next week.

Has anyone been to Rother Valley Country Park? That looks in about the right location

Brodsworth Hall looks like a great option as well

Will have to keep searching for Cusworth Hall, first google brought up some flats in Doncaster

There is road parking at Clumber Park that you don’t have to book. Just park on the outside of the NT estate.

Cusworth Hall

It feel like you want to be further south that the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, but bud you do go there,
It needs booking.

Catra · 22/03/2021 21:28

Newstead Abbey, Sherwood Pines, Rufford Park.

RunningKatie · 22/03/2021 21:37

As far as i am aware you have to book now to park at Rufford. It is lovely though!
Rother Valley is currently absolutely heaving on a daily basis, it's about £5 for an all day parking ticket but does have toilets, cafe and 2 lakes to walk around.
