hi ive been on uc 9 months now as i lost my job due to covid its really hard to survive on it i have to speak to my work coach on the phone every 2 weeks and put job searches in my journal every day about my job searches
i got a message today from a woman from a job centre miles away from where i live saying shes made an appointment to call me this friday regarding my existing claim
thats all she said
seems odd to me
tomorrow i have my 2 weekly call from my work coach re job hunting
i dont undertsand why some one from another dwp centre would leave me a message to chat about my claim
has anyone else had a mssage like that and any idea what its about as ive no idea

i did message my work coach to ask what its about, but she s not replied to me. she normally does

should i be worried
i am looking for work not my fault no one will employ me

Do you claim housing benefit or anything else they would require proof for?
When I started claiming and then added housing to my claim, they more or less just took my word it and paid (I offered to send scans of lease etc!)
And then just a month ago I had a note like that and the call was in regards to me having to upload the documents for them.

Uc hot in touch with my landlords to doublecheck my rent

Amorousfrog · 22/03/2021 19:20

*got

SingToTheSky · 22/03/2021 19:21

Could it be a supervisory thing for your coach? Like sometimes tutors have to have their marking checked by another person to make sure they aren’t being too lenient etc?

Sympathies re the job hunting - hard enough in normal times but it must be so awful right now

Teenangels · 22/03/2021 19:26

The they just confirming everything, there was such a huge amount of new claims that they have caught up.

ArnoldBee · 22/03/2021 22:53

With covid they just accepted what people said to get the claims processed. Now they are going through the claims to verify the information so it's probably just that.

No idea, but my landlord said I was paying more than I was. As its not paid directly, I don’t see why they said that 🤔

lizziejayne66 · 23/03/2021 11:40

did you have to take pics of tenancy agreement and send to dwp

OP posts:
CatFaceCats · 23/03/2021 11:55

I just took pic and uploaded them via a link they put in my journal after we spoke.
If you’re doing everything right, keeping things updated and job hunting, then there isn’t anything to worry about.

Its to verify your claim details in full as processes were eased during covid so full evidence wasn't required at the time you originally claimed, this was to speed up getting claims into pay. You might be asked to upload your ID and tenancy agreement again. It's been done across the country for all claims made during covid.

I've just had to submit proof of earnings from the period before we even claimed UC, early to mid 2020. I'm pretty baffled also.

My comment isn't at all useful but you're not alone in your confusion Smile

Rememberallball · 23/03/2021 16:41

Lots of claims were taken on good faith without documentary evidence due to the pandemic closing job centres. Lots of people are now getting phone appointments through to complete the verification of their accounts.

lizziejayne66 · 24/03/2021 20:07

im still not sure what ids they want

I assumed the government could access this information themselves? I mean, it’s literally shown in full under your tax account
