How can I find my driving licence number

Frantically tried to find my driving licence today without success - it is in the house somewhere - tried to look up my driver number on line at DVLA without any luck - any other suggestions of how I can find this out? I need it tomorrow morning for work

You’ll have to ring the DVLA OP, they’ll have it all on record.

I’ve needed a copy of my licence for various things. Have you scanned it and saved a photo of it somewhere?

Phone the DVLA

Argh I've just called DVLA and it was an automated message before I got through to say due to security they won't give licence numbers over the phone. I've found my old licence but that has my maiden name on Angry

Do you have any car insurances where it could be in the paperwork?

GransKitchen · 22/03/2021 13:35

I can't see anything on any old insurance paper work.

Does anyone know, when I changed my surname when I married would the numbers stay the same getting desperate now

I didn't think the numbers changed?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/03/2021 13:38

Mine changed after marriage... Your name is part of the number.

We keep the covering letters with our passports etc in case they get lost.. any chance you've done the same?

ThatsNotTheTeaHunty · 22/03/2021 13:38

Oh wait maybe it does because your name changed. Sorry had a bit of a slow moment then.

womaninatightspot · 22/03/2021 13:42

Don't you have a record of it somewhere in your email. I've had to photograph and send it to insurers before.

GransKitchen · 22/03/2021 13:44

Thanks everyone, I think I've solved it, so I've found my old driving licence with maiden name, I've updated the name part with my new surname name, then I'm pretty sure the numbers stay the same - I've just submitted to work so I'm sure I'll hear soon if it's wrong 🤞🏼

This will let you get some of the number from your personal details. You are only missing 1 number and 2 letters - you could try them randomly on the DVLA website - although it might take a long time.

Have you hired a car? Have you had a works car so they have a record of your licence?

Do you have an insurance document for your car? If you have more than one car does you OH have a record on his insurance?

Can you try calling your insurance company?

Do you have the old counterpart for your licence?
