I've just watched Mums List. Proper sobbing watching it and I don't even have children.

Eight Below, Haachi and Marley & Me are sad too.

@Wineloffa

Philomena. I was a sobbing mess by the end of it. And it’s based on a true story which made it even more devastating.

EvilOnion · 22/03/2021 15:47

@Sunshinesky1981, I promise I'm not normally a corrective wanker but "The boy in the Stripped pyjamas" made me laugh!

It's like one of those change a letter, ruin a film things 🤣

PumpkinsMum18 · 22/03/2021 15:48

Room

Saw it in the cinema and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

Tempusfudgeit · 22/03/2021 15:51

The Road
Life is Beautiful
Pan's Labyrinth

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 22/03/2021 15:52

I Daniel Blake. Probably would have felt worse had I not been warned that the Cannes jury when seeing it had been in tears, so expected it to be distressing.

God, I only have to see the tiniest clip of Dumbo's mum being locked away and I'm wreckage - I'm welling up thinking about it!

Also, the end of Cinema Paradiso.
The English Patient.
I also saw The Elephant Man at the cinema and pretty much cried all the way through.

SmednotaSmoo · 22/03/2021 16:02

Shadowlands is a beautiful film about love and loss.

I struggle with any Holocaust (or similar tragedy) related films now.

Beaches
Awakenings. He lost out twice 😢😢

theluckiest · 22/03/2021 16:27

I saw Schindler's List at the cinema. When the credits rolled, nobody moved. It was so strange. Everyone just stayed in their seats. Apart from sniffing & sobbing, it was silent.

I sobbed my heart out at the English Patient too. I just kept thinking about poor Kristin Scott Thomas stuck in that cave waiting for her love.

As a teen, I loved The Color Purple. Watched it over and over again and cried in the same 4 places every single time...just hearing the music makes me cry.

Iamblossom · 22/03/2021 16:29

I love these threads. I am goin g to watch Cargo tonight.

Was a snotty gibbering wreck watching Philadelphia on my own in the cinema with nothing to wipe my nose on but my sleeve. Gorgeous.

Also cried at Sleepers, and could not watch that now I have sons of my own.

Atonement and The English Patient are two of my absolute favourite films, and I always cry at both.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 22/03/2021 16:34

The Green Mile.

Cldashlda · 22/03/2021 16:39

They shoot horses, don't they.

Mammyof22020 · 22/03/2021 16:46

The pianist. Absolutely heartbreaking.

PurpleMustang · 22/03/2021 16:47

Pay It Forward, watched it before having kids and don't think I could watch it again now I have.

PoorMissDior · 22/03/2021 16:55

Beaches
The Time Travellers Wife
Dear John

Clarice99 · 22/03/2021 16:59

@TheLittleRedToothbrush

I agree with you about Room - the book was way more disturbing. The film fell short in comparison.

beachlife18 · 22/03/2021 17:01

Hachi cried my eyes out

clpsmum · 22/03/2021 17:02

@middleager the changeling
This is a film I've always meant to watch and never got around to. I know the story well and what happened to the real son etc but never seen the film. Thanks for the reminder xx

Whatamesssss · 22/03/2021 17:03

Terms of Endearment

Any film where the dogs dies which is every film with a dog in it! I can't think of one film with a prominent dog character that doesn't die.

It still haunts me after watching it quite a few years ago. It's a harrowing story.
