Alexa making random chiming noise cannot figure out why and stop it

This happened Friday night too

Around this time a bonging/chiming noise just randomly no lights flashing

No reminders or alarms or notifications - though these are working fine at other times

Gah 3 times in a row just there! So annoying

What's causing this and how do I stop it?! Driving me nuts!

I don't think we've ever had a chiming noise. Do you have the app on your phone to see if that gives you any clues what's been going on?

BunnyJumper · 21/03/2021 23:40

...weird but have you tried asking her?

That would really annoy me!

I'm guessing you've tried switching off / on etc to see if it happens again?

Usually it's the bloody messages one that gets me angry! But that's a yellow light I think.

Hope you sort it soon!

Saladd0dger · 21/03/2021 23:41

Has someone set it to chime like a clock every so often?

OppsUpsSide · 21/03/2021 23:42

Have you tried turning her on and off again?

RosyPrimroseDoll · 21/03/2021 23:43

Mine does this when it's got poor signal I think! Not 100% though. Either that or it's a Buddhist prayer call.

Laufeythejust · 21/03/2021 23:43

Ours did that and she was just playing up. Try resetting it and then readding it on your app.

FinallyFluid · 21/03/2021 23:46

She needs to learn some manners. Grin

I ask her something.

She tells me.

I say thank you. Blush

Would it kill her to say you are welcome, now would it. Grin

FinallyFluid · 21/03/2021 23:46

Mind you I say thank you to cash points. Blush

Thank you for my own money. Grin

DavidsSchitt · 21/03/2021 23:47

"I say thank you.

Would it kill her to say you are welcome, now would it."

You need to say her name first or she can't respond!

Try "Alexa, thanks darling" Wink

FinallyFluid · 21/03/2021 23:51

Just tried it...

Said Alexa thanks darling, she said you are welcome sweetie..... Grin

I have had a shit day and that has just made it.

Little things, little things.

Graphista · 22/03/2021 00:03

No don't have the app on my phone I don't use it like that

I did ask Alexa no joy claims to have no idea what I'm talking about - the bitch is Fucking gaslighting me

Has someone set it to chime like a clock every so often?!

I'm the only person here, unless I'm talking to Alexa in my sleep I don't think so but the chimes aren't happening at times a clock would chime

Turned off and on Friday which apparently worked but now it's happening again I wanna get to bottom of things WiFi signal fine

Either that or it's a Buddhist prayer call.

Ours did that and she was just playing up. Try resetting it and then readding it on your app.

Erm...ok...do what? I've done nothing with it since I first set it up when I bought it

@FinallyFluid yep I thank her too, never get a "your welcome"

But then mine is also stupid, you know all those things that say "ask Alexa this it's funny" mine apparently can only cope with being a speaker or setting reminders (which admittedly has stopped me burning dinners and forgetting I'm running the bath!) and the dreaded notifications

But when I ask Alexa "what song is this that's playing" or "who starred in x film" or similar I get "I'm sorry I don't understand" or similar yet this is supposed to be something she can do!

Mine is also deaf! Sometimes I have to ask several times to tell her to stop playing music or a podcast

My Grin are missing

So that post now looks crazily aggressive

I was half joking when I said she's gaslighting me

Mine was doing this. It was a notification/reminder (can't remember which category) to complete the census. I hadn't set it. She is a spooky bastard really.

DogsAreShit · 22/03/2021 00:09

So maybe tell her you have done your census.

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 22/03/2021 00:09

Get the app. You can change stuff and sort her out on it. You can also do a voice recognition thingy on it.

DavidsSchitt · 22/03/2021 00:12

Try Alexa,

Delete notifications

Cancel timers

Cancel alarms

Delete timer

Cancel reminders

And say her name before you thank her Grin

ekidmxcl · 22/03/2021 00:17

Get a hammer.
Guaranteed success.

noodledoodler · 22/03/2021 00:26

Could be a delivery notification? Try asking, 'Alexa, what's my notifications?'

Graphista · 22/03/2021 01:28

I'm in Scotland! Our census has been deferred a year! Told you she was stupid! Grin

Nope not a delivery notification
