Sports bras- are they ever flattering?

The consultant at the breast clinic told me not to wear an underwired bra- fair enough. His suggestion was a supportive sports bra. I have back fat and saggy boobs ( I’m getting on a bit- I’m pretty fit, but menopausal).

I look really fat in them- like a caterpillar, with sections.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supportive, non wired bra?

I’d be very grateful!

Molke are rated on here. They look hideous to me though. What's the reasoning is it post surgery?

My sports bras all have wire tbh.

I have big norms and have never found a sports bra that looks flattering on me. I have given up now and am happy as long as the bra does a good job!

@idontlikealdi- I have costochondritis (inflammation between my upper ribs). I was referred to him to rule out anything more serious. He actually said that underwired bras weren’t good to wear daily for anyone.

I’ll keep looking for the holy grail of bras!

Does it need to be a sports bra or just not wired? Sports bras are hideous really but perfect for sport. If it just needs to be not wired you'll have a lot more choice.

Try the Shock Absorber Shaped Support bra - I find it really comfy and gives an ordinary silhouette (not runners monoboob)

Look at Asda also - they are surprisingly good bras and have several non-wired styles

Amorousfrog · 22/03/2021 07:31

Asda non-wired have weird sizes though

CovidCorvid · 22/03/2021 07:33

I wear these from Amazon quite a bit and I don’t get the mono boob effect which I do with some sports bras.

Sorry to the earlier poster but Molke are the most comfortable bra I've ever worn. No wires, no pain and no mono boob. I couldn't care less whether other people like the look of them...they are just super comfortable!

Aknifewith16blades · 22/03/2021 08:17

Not cheap, but non-wired and incredibly comfortable: laraintimates.com/

I wouldn't be choosing to wear a sports bra everyday, especially on the say-so of someone who presumably doesn't wear them himself.

minniemoocher · 22/03/2021 08:48

I have a bravissimo sports bra that gives ok shape, very comfortable. But for non wired I would look at old fashioned bras rather than sports to give good shape eg like the platex cross your heart.

redcandlelight · 22/03/2021 09:00

have a look at triumph
they have some nice non wired bras
sloggi zero feel might fit the bill

Hfjshdhs · 22/03/2021 09:00

I like the Sweaty Betty longline one. I basically have loads of them and only ever wear them as bras.

Imissmoominmama · 22/03/2021 09:19

Some great suggestions here- thank you!

I bought a Shock Absorber Multi Sports Bra and have been amazed at how supportive it is. I followed the suggestion of going up a back size to normal as they come small but the support whilst jogging is incredible. Only wish I could find something to equally support my achilles which got strained in the ice!
