What can I do to help?

TW: domestic abuse

I feel sick writing this down but I’ve found out that my sister has been abused by her partner, witnessed by their children. She is safe in that he’s not allowed any contact (bail conditions) but I feel sick knowing she’s been treated this way.

What can I do to help? We’re due to visit and I want to bring things down to her to give her a smile but I don’t want to say or do anything that could make her feel worse.

I’d love any advice anyone has for this sensitive situation.

Be a sounding board.
No judgemental language like "if only you had told us" or " what a bastard/You're better off without".
DV victims are known to have return to their abusers and you don't want to risk her/him cutting you out. She needs you.
