Getting non sick child to school?

AquaBlue32 · 21/03/2021 20:25

Single Mum of 2 DC,
DC1 is very ill with sickness and diarrhoea.

How can I get DC2 to school? It's a 15 minute walk and DC1 will not be able to do that tomorrow as he is very ill. I haven't got any help so cannot call family or friends and I'm stressed out as the school are very strict on non attendance.

How old are they?

sherrystrull · 21/03/2021 20:32

I'd be tempted to explain the situation to school. I'm sure they won't want to risk having dc2 in when dc1 has an awful bug. Keep them both at home for a few days.

I would just tell the school they both have the bug, because chances are the other child will spread it anyway.

Ask a friend?

Call the school in the morning, or poss email now if you can. Our school would find a way to help you. In the circumstances, you may find they’d prefer you to keep your child at home and set some work. Hope they are helpful.

I would just keep him at home and not stress about it.

Another vote for keeping the non sick child home. It's highly likely he'll have it by tomorrow anyway...

They are 7 and 9.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Not if they don't share towels and cutlery/glasses. It's not airborne. No need for everyone catching d&v. It's not necessary for everyone to catch it - just need basic hygiene.

And I would drive, and let non-sick kid out of car.
