What professions give the highest job satisfaction?

Just read on another thread a warning to keep your loved ones out of the entertainment industry as it's so brutal and sexually corrupt. I've heard banking and law are crazy hours and heartless. Medicine/nursing and teaching are long hours, underpaid and thankless.

What are the good industries with a healthy work life balance, decent pay and good job satisfaction? Do any still exist?

My friends from university who went into accounting and computer programming seem to have great salaries and work life balance. Two of ds1s friends have accountant fathers with 6 figure salaries, always off for school holidays, always can make school events etc etc.

Law much more mixed bag.

I can testify medicine is hard work, awful work life balance, less money than most folks believe and increasingly undervalued !

I am a Speech Pathologist and absolutely love my job. I have my own practise so pick my own hours etc and I get so much joy satisfaction
