What the bleeding heck keeps happening to my hand?! *pic*

Last night I was watching TV doing nothing with my hands and an awful searing pain happened in the side of my thumb, followed by a horrible burning pain.
I couldn't see anything or understand what the hell was happening but it stopped after 1-2 minutes.
I forgot all about it and just now looked at my thumb and saw a bruise in the place that it hurt.

This isn't the first time either.

Another time I had an awful burning pain the heal of my hand followed by a 3 in bruise appearing. Looked bloody horrible.

I hadn't done anything strenuous on either day.

I was sitting doing nothing both times it occurred.

I'm paranoid blood clots are exploding in my hands or something.

I have this occasionally, It is when a small blood vessel bursts just under your skin, it usually happens to me when I have been doing repetitive, fairly hard work, things like raking the lawn, or holding the handle down on a pressure washer for extended periods.

I'm so shit at Google.

I had googled a few times and never came up with that.

Thanks for the link!

I get this in one finger about twice a year!

It's ridiculously painful for Worthing that then just looks bruised!

I'm going to check out that link!

I get this too. Usually after I’ve been exercising/lifting weights. It’s surprisingly painful.

I’ve been get something like this for about 4 years; 3-4x a year. Feels like a bee sting or pinch (when neither is possible!) with blue bump which spreads out to flat bruise over the next hours. Then resolves after a few days. Went to GP after it had happened twice; no abnormal blood results. Happens in fingers, palms and more recently, soles of feet! Think it’s Achenbach Syndrome. Also have Reynaud’s phenomenon (ever since teens).

Can’t post photos although I may be able to once I’ve been a member for a bit longer! Now tend to take a photo to record when it happens.

Maybe we should do a survey on Achenbach’s as all the medical literature say it’s rare, & not many Drs are clued up about it!

Sorry can't help but thought this might make you laugh. Did a workout yesterday and hurt my hand/ wrist slightly (from pushing up to planks etc). Wasn't too worried until later in the day the whole side of my hand/thumb joint had turned blue-grey. Thought I must have somehow bruised it badly.... then 5 mins later remembered I'd put on brand new inky-blue jeans, the ones with the sticker warning about colour transfer Grin
