Did anyone else get married on 21 March 2020?

I've posted about this on another thread, but I wondered how many other people were able to get married just as lockdown began. I remember being in tears on the Friday night as it was announced that all social venues would be closed from 10pm that day.

But after some frantic phone calls, our guest list was cut to just 8, as our wonderful venue and registrars agreed to go ahead with just a very small ceremony. A staff member FaceTimed my mum and sister, so they could be with us.

Our florist had already made all the arrangements, so we gave them to the staff, registrars and photographer, who were delighted with their free Mother's Day bouquets and the venue gave us free champagne and cooked our meals as a takeaway.

It was a lovely, funny and sad day, and I treasure the memories.

But I wonder how many others were able to squeeze in their wedding just In time, how many have been able to get married in the past year, and how many are still waiting...?

My best friends sister did. It was crazy-busy.

Everything seemed rushed but bizarrely went in slow-mo too.

The calls, the whatsapps, the panic, everything.

Exactly how you describe it, OP.

What they weren’t expecting was just how the focus became on the actual 3 minute exchange of vows. Suddenly that was the one so emotionally powerful moment that shone.....& is remembered more than anything.

The venue, the flowers, cake, all of the extras all of a sudden - whilst beautiful- were meaningless without the guests which ironically made the vows seem to be stronger.

Wishing you a very happy first anniversary Flowers
