Had a telephone appointment with gp on Tuesday as I want to be referred for sterilisation (not hysterectomy) Had conversation and Dr advised me due to covid and non urgent things not a priority that I could be waiting a long time,im totally fine with that.Got a Gynae appointment for this Thursday through the post today,v surprised! Is this normal or v speedy as I suspect?

That is quite quick to get a new patient appointment for a non-urgent matter but maybe they aren't very busy at the moment? It still means you could be waiting a very long time for the op, which might be what the GP meant. It would be classed as non-urgent so lots of things would be priority ahead of your op.

Yeh that’s quick. I was referred for a non-urgent physio appointment over 2 weeks ago and was told I would get the referral in 2 weeks and the appointment would not be for another 2 months. Not heard anything at all so far.

Really fast. Our mail is about 2 weeks behind never mind the actual appointment!!

GP sends referral electronically, clinic has appointment because covid has lessened demand and they fire off a letter same day? If your postal service is working as normal I can see how this might happen

That’s very fast....you might want to call them to check as some hospitals have set up appointment systems where referrals are triaged without the patient attending. Quite a number of patients have been contacted with “appointments” only to find it isn’t really an appointment, it’s just a time when your referral will be discussed

It's a proper appointment it says the time and hospital and directions to the women's hospital
