Foggy brain... Tiredness, age, hormones?!

Last night Deliveroo arrived at my door with a delivery I hadn't ordered. Driver said it was for number 37. I replied I was number 36 not 37. He looked confused and showed me the order on his screen and I explained again yes, you have an order for 37, not me, I'm number 36. As he left I started to feel confused and had to find some post to find out what house number I was. I am indeed number 37!!!!Blush

I was very tired after a long day at work. I'm hoping others can make me feel better about this memory loss!

You forgot you’d ordered FOOD,how is that possible, the day revolves around food fo me.

Mustgetup · 20/03/2021 08:59

No! I didn't order the food, someone must have made a mistake. I just couldn't remember my address.

Yep. I’m 42 and I’ve noticed that I jumble my words and completely forget words. I think I’m peri menopausal though. Joy.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 20/03/2021 09:04

Menopause? It messed with my memory and my balance.

Memory still not as good as it used to be, but loads better than it was. My balance recovered as the night sweats went.

No one tells you this stuff, so you wonder if you're actually ill.

Mustgetup · 20/03/2021 09:12

I'm 45 @Daisy829 so possibly peri menopausal too. Having period every 3 weeks which is annoying.

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman no its not talked about much is it.

Vitamin B might help. I take B12 + complex. Also D with K.
I can tell when I need it because my concentration gets worse. Also find that drinking water helps, I always forget to drink it.

It does seem to be age related/hormonal/ related to being shut indoors for a year.

Mustgetup · 20/03/2021 12:38

I might get some vitamins and good reminder re water. I sometimes wake up with a heavy head, good to try any tips thanks.

You'd do well to get a full set of bloods done OP, including things like thyroid function.

Mustgetup · 20/03/2021 14:25

Might be a good idea when GPs less busy.

Thyroid,
B12
Vitamin D

Each of these can cause similar symptoms as well as (peri) menopause. A GP call is in order.

BigBirdsbird · 21/03/2021 05:38

This is me.
I used to remember everything and now nothing sticks. It causes me panic and to wonder if I'm losing my mind, but I suspect at 46 that the menopause is raising it's ugly head.
It's a strange out of control feeling, I feel like all the stuff I used to know has been locked behind a door in my brain somewhere and I have no idea whether I ever get the key back

Mustgetup · 21/03/2021 05:46

That sounds tough BigBird. Not a nice way to feel. Have you spoken to your GP?
