Possible Royal Mail scam?

Nith · 20/03/2021 00:24

I've had a text apparently from Royal Mail saying they hadn't been able to deliver a parcel and giving a link to give directions for redelivery.

I haven't clicked on the link as I think it could be a scam. I'm not expecting any parcels, I was in all day, and in fact coincidentally earlier in the day I'd taken in a parcel delivered by Royal Mail for DH. Also I can't really think of any reason why they'd have my mobile number.

Has anyone else come across this?

Total scam....ignore

Definitely a scam

Royal Mail leave cards at your address

My grandad had a text like that today (apparently had to pay a £2 fee for something or other) - he nearly bloody did it too except he didn't have his wallet on him so forwarded the text to me and asked me to pay it. Its ridiculous.

Definite scam

You will always get a card through the door. And you should of course check you are on the correct site before making any transaction

Scam. I know a couple of people who have had these texts. Royal Mail does not know your mobile number. Or your home phone number for clarities sake.

What number did they message you with? You should do that gumtree puppy thing, where you place an ad for a puppy and use the scammer’s number for enquires!

Nith · 20/03/2021 08:51

Thanks, everyone. The message comes from a mobile number, I'm seriously tempted to follow the gumtree idea!

Totally pointless. The numbers are all automated, so nobody is likely to even notice any incoming texts.

They send the outgoing texts via automation and then work off the info provided in the link.

Definitely a scam, my neighbour had one, ended up with empty bank and savings accounts.
