Any opticians about?

Hi I wonder if any opticians are about who may be able to help. DS 14 has a very uneven glasses prescription I think it’s about +1.5 in one eye and about + 6.5 in the other. The end result is due to the magnification in his bad eye he looks like one eye is much bigger than the other. He’s worn glasses for years and it’s never been an issue but as puberty has hit he has become much more self conscious.

I guess I am asking is there anyway to address this? I already pay extra for the thicker lens to be thinned but it’s still really noticeable. He doesn’t like the idea of contacts and to be honest I am worried about him getting an infection in his good eye and then he’s more or less partially sighted. Is there anything else that can be done with his glasses to try and balance them? I should add he’s had a massive growth spurt in the last few months and his glasses are probably a bit small but his optician is only seeing emergency cases at present. Would a larger adult size frame make the disparity less obvious?

Anyway I’m rambling... any advice welcome as I think he will just stop wearing his glasses at that this rate.

You can get thinner more expensive lenses I think. Ask a different optician if required. Ours are doing routine appointments now as my ds had an eye test 2 days ago
