Can't face another effing walk! Ideas for the weekend?

Help me map out the weekend with my toddler and husband, I need the time blocked off somehow or its just unbearably long! Doesnt need to be anything good! Just something that makes time feel like it's moving onwards!
Any ideas on any time killers that actually kill time as opposed to 'occupy child for three minutes'. HELP!

My local zoo is now open - do you have anything like that close to you?

Januaryblue2020 · 19/03/2021 19:11

Aw jealous, no, don't think zoos have opened round here yet. It's still very much walk or walk 😭

If it's windy enough, go fly a kite?

Google Treasure Trails maps, although your child might be a bit too young for them.

Bike ride if you have or could borrow some? Garden centre for seeds if toddler might be interested. Get some duck food there and go to a pond to feed ducks.

Are you a short distance from a beach or countryside?

Although not entertaining for your toddler if you live in a town you could do a blue plaque walk

We have done a lot of hunts, today it is a spring equinox theme. Are there any hints or trails you can download? I make my own when there aren't.

I know it is all pointless but the only two options I see are do something or do nothing. I have done a lot of pointless themed days.

Have a spring day or something, you can have fondant fancies and a party lunch Smile

You can go for a walk with a friend as well as your toddler (and any kids under 5, if they have them) I know it's still a walk but also a change of pace? Or you go for the walk and leave DH and toddler to sort themselves.

Do you also involve your toddler in everyday life? I don't think you should need to 'occupy' toddlers all the time, they generally enjoy 'helping' with laundry, cleaning, cooking etc - it does make things take longer, but it sounds like you have time to kill, it's teaching them good skills and then when your toddler sleeps at least the jobs are done and you can sit down and have time to yourself or as a couple. I'm good at this now with my third but wish I'd done more of it with my first!

Last one is outdoor play that isn't a walk or playground. Most toddlers will play for ages with a patxh of mud,a small shovel and two sticks, while you can sip on a thermos (or a flask Wink)

Any garden games played outdoors, do u have a mini golf set u can just move it around to different places/distances.

Too windy for badminton but u could try bowls in the garden or even throwing bean bags at a target or distance.

I can recommend getting one of these

A spot of bird watching maybe?
If u have river/lake/pond nearby, go in search of birds building nests/hatching young. I have already seen 2 sets of goslings and swans are building nests.

Or if u have a garden, put up a bird box, u could even paint it.

Get a pet, I recommend a cat, so much pleasure!

I'm getting my garden ready this weekend for when the rule of 6 kicks in.
I've never been so excited to clean, tidy and plant 😀
