Ring doorbell. Can you turn the chime off?

I think I need a ring doorbell but it looks like I'd also need a chime so the kids will know there's someone at the door.

But, can I turn the chime off when we're away? It'll be obvious we're not in if the doorbell is pressed, the chime goes and we never come to the door or answer the app. I never have my phone on at night so wouldn't be checking the notification.

I'm not sure I understand. Isn't it always obvious you're not in if you don't answer the door?

We have our chime plugged in by the front door, I just switch it off at certain times such as toddler nap time or bed time, although it is mostly off right now as we get notifications to our phone and smart watches, so enough ways to be informed that someone is at the door!

more Not necessarily. If I was at home I'd have the chime on at night but my phone off. But if we were away my phone would be off and if the caller could hear the doorbell going but no answer they would probably guess no one was home. I'd rather have the chime off when we're away so the caller can't quite figure it out. Does that make sense Confused.

user thank you. As long as it can go off I don't mind.
