I booked. Turkey . 5 star. Top end. I went all out for my three children and I
Nothing to lose financially as full covid cover with zero excess.
However... wondering what others are thinking also in same boat.

I’m quietly optimistic. Against the odds!

I’m 44

I think May is too early. The summer holidays possibly, October half term is more likely.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/03/2021 08:47

I wouldn't be too optimistic for May. Summer holidays perhaps.

BarbaraofSeville · 19/03/2021 09:02

Who knows. It's not that far after the 'not before 17 May' relaxation where foreign travel will be allowed again, so you only need a couple of weeks delay in that date if either of the UK and Turkey are not in the right place at that time and your trip will be off.

I do know that some people got away last summer or autumn, but they were the lucky minority and many found that they were under restrictions while they were away or unexpectedly had to quarantine when they came home.

edwinbear · 19/03/2021 09:13

Not a risk I'd take personally. If the flights go, you'll have to go or risk losing your money, but potentially then have to pay £2k+ to spend 10 days in a quarantine hotel when you get back.

BarbaraofSeville · 19/03/2021 09:22

Although, if it's a package and things aren't looking good nearer the time, there might be the option to move to October half term or even next year.

KnottyKnitting · 19/03/2021 09:24

Won't you still need to pay for covid tests to go and return? Also many European countries, including Turkey, are in the grip of a surge in cases at the moment. I think it's wildly optimistic that you would be able to go away end of May- august maybe, October much more hopeful.

JemimaPyjamas · 19/03/2021 09:27

If you've nothing to lose financially, go for it!

I think it could go either way as May is on the cusp, so to speak, but I suppose things will become clearer nearer the time.

Good luck!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 19/03/2021 09:32

We e just moved our holiday to Italy in the summer to next year.

Is Turkey vaccinating it’s population? I just don’t think much foreign travel is going to happen this year. I know people including the government want it to, and so do l..... but Europe is in a mess, vaccine shortages, new strains, tests... just can’t see it this year.

idontlikealdi · 19/03/2021 09:33

October maybe, I think May is too optimistic. I've cancelled our French summer holiday and booked something here instead.
