Anyone noticed family/friends more demanding this Easter?

I've been inundated with hints or requests for Easter.
I always do the children. And certain adults.

But it's all adults putting in requests now, too.

Lockdown Easter fever?

Normally, I'd not think too much about it. But we've been affected income wise and I get impression no one thinks about that, because I've never discussed it.

Our business, we will deal with it, is my approach.

But , suddenly, influx of hints, requests or just downright orders! Confused

Hahaha.
Literally, up pops my sister a few minutes ago.
Reminding me maltesers are her favourite.
Tbf, I used to get her something, but stopped that a few years ago.
So, I am totally confused.

I thought something to do with lockdown, but obviously not.

What you have there OP, are Easter CFs!

Bloody hell, in my local supermarket there are mountains of 99p eggs in the doorway, it'll cost three times that or more to pack and post one!

We've never 'done' Easter as a family, odd egg if I remember. You are not obliged to send anything to anyone - especially to pay to transport air from all the packaging!

HelenaJustina · 19/03/2021 06:19

I’m Catholic too, and my family usually go big at Easter in terms of exchanging chocolate. We reined it in last year, and I can’t see this year being any different. And no one would request something or send a link... that’s a bit off!

So @Pissedoffcat how exactly did this go down? Did it come out of the blue?

What would happen if you said “don’t be daft, you’re an adult. If you want chocolate, you know where the shop is”

Or if you just didn’t buy anything and ignored her hints, pretending you missed the cue etc

MzHz · 19/03/2021 06:25

But yeah, your family are bonkers 🤣😂

NeilBuchananisBanksy · 19/03/2021 06:26

Links- web links to Easter eggs?

Just say you aren't doing Easter eggs. For a start posting an egg is just crazy, it's never going to get there in one piece!!

user1493413286 · 19/03/2021 06:26

Adults requesting Easter eggs? That’s odd.

Hydrate · 19/03/2021 06:27

I've always wanted one of these for Easter', with a wink Etc

You could reply "You and me both" with a 😢.

nimbuscloud · 19/03/2021 06:28

Say no.

Lochmorlich · 19/03/2021 06:29

Or the hint, ' I've always wanted one of these for Easter'

Lochmorlich · 19/03/2021 06:30

@Hydrate great minds.

ChameleonClara · 19/03/2021 06:30

Not at all, most people have been quite forgetful it is even happening!

Iloveacurry · 19/03/2021 06:31

Is this a thing? We don’t do chocolate for adults at Easter just the kids. Just tell them to buy their own!

BeforetheFlood · 19/03/2021 06:33

Are you the Easter Bunny OP?

PurBal · 19/03/2021 06:40

We do Easter gifts. Have done since we were children because the amount of chocolate we were being given was crazy and so unhealthy. But they're always small tokens of less than about £10 and it wouldn't be every year, normally only if we were seeing family. To be honest it's normally things like bulbs or homemade preserves. My mum's already told me I'm getting a potted plant this year, something she's taken out of her own garden so it's free. We have a few traditions, mainly around food but other than my DH we're all Christians and regular church goers so fairly normal I think. We have an Easter tree and send cards.

Itsalonghaul · 19/03/2021 06:44

You cave in this year, you will be stuck forevermore as the Easter bunny to adults, as they will expect the same next year.

It is beyond ridiculous. We buy some treats for the children and have a treasure hunt in the garden. I send my parents something and buy SIL a plant if we see them. That is it! There is no way I would go down the christmas route. Steer well clear.

Reply should be short and sweet 'We buy treats only for the children at Easter. Enjoy a lovely Easter break. Love and hugs OP'

KaleJuicer · 19/03/2021 06:46

Nope, just you. We don’t give fully grown adults chocolate

Humberbear · 19/03/2021 06:49

Sounds like one member of family has told the others that your getting them an egg so the others are putting their requests in.
One of my grandchilden told me at the weekend she cant wait till easter for me to do the easter egg hunt at my house. First I'd heard of it!!!!

BigBamboo · 19/03/2021 06:51

I've always downplayed Easter big time. I'm always expected to host at Christmas, which I am pushing back on big time, and I am not getting sucked into doing Easter as well and buying people presents too.

Whenever I get the "do you want to get together for Easter and BigB do everything", I just say, "oh, we don't celebrate Easter really, so no. We are just going to chill that day" and then we have a lovely meal and eggs on our own.

Cattitudes · 19/03/2021 06:51

To each request say 'oh that looks lovely, to save postage and broken eggs why don't you buy it for yourself and I will buy what I like and then we all get what we like.' Then no one has to post anything, you buy an egg for yourself which you like and scoff it. With the savings in postage you can get yourself a bigger egg!

BigBamboo · 19/03/2021 06:52

The problem now is that people know you can go online and post eggs like from Hotel Chocolate and now think it is the done thing.

Beefcurtains79 · 19/03/2021 06:53

Do they think you can get them cheap or something? Otherwise this is bonkers.

Cocogreen · 19/03/2021 06:53

If I’ve been invited somewhere over Easter for a meal I’ll take a pack of eggs or a rabbit for the host but that’s it. Adults asking for chocolates to be posted is weird! Buy your own, cheapskates!

TheQueef · 19/03/2021 06:53

A bit of a warning about setting a precedent.
When my DC were tiny they got so much chocolate I did a deal that they could trade their whole egg haul for one Dreamcast game and choose one egg to eat.
I helpfully ate the surplus.
DS works full time now and still asks if I'm getting him a game. He's 28.

Londonnight · 19/03/2021 07:04

I never give adults Easter eggs, never had any requests for anything for Easter either
