Anyone live in Blacon, Chester?

Hi! We’ve been offered a social housing property in Blacon near Chester. I’ve heard it’s a rough area but I’m hoping to find opinions from people who actually live or lived there if there’s any of you out there! Thanks!

A bit rough. I worked in Blacon for a couple of years. Always something going on with police presence, mainly drugs from what I heard. They built a huge police station at the entrance to the estate a few years ago...

I grew up there during the 80s and early 90s. Was very rough back then but when I've visited in recent years(have family there) it doesn't seem as bad.
It's divided into 2 areas: The Parade and The Camp. I have a feeling The Parade side is still on the rougher side though.

It's like anywhere, there are nicer parts and not so nice parts. I'm a a delivery driver for Blacon.

I am from Blacon, don't live there but still have family I visit regularly. It has a reputation and a rather lively character but the people are on the whole lovely. I haven't lived there for 24 years but am still asked how my grandparents are when I go in the bakery.. it takes me ages to go up the street with people stopping for a hug/chat.

I know Blacon a little bit and it’s not the best area, but nowhere around Chester is really too bad in my experience.

I'm from Blacon and would love to be able to get a house there!!

Hi, we bought a house in Blacon a few days ago. I didn't have much time to look around and very little research has been done into the area other than it is close to Chester city centre. We will be relocating from Yorkshire, and we are looking for schools. We are near to Saughall Road.
Any recommendations?!
