Sorry have NC here as don't want to be outing (no pun intended)
Wondering if anyone else's parents have "come out" as gay/lesbian at a fairly late stage in their life?
I don't mean that they were bi or ambiguous but that they surprisingly (to outsiders) came out to others (loved ones or wide society)
Asking as an adult child of DM who came out as gay about 15 years ago - she has since had civil partnership and marriage and is in a happy long-term relationship.
We (DC) are supportive and happy for her as are her GC.
Did anyone face any issues or problems?
Just posting this as support for others who may have similar happening and also for general discussion from different perspectives.
To get ball rolling my biggest issue has been a sense of feeling that I "lost" that "mother-daughter" bond as DM had another significant female in her life. Have worked this through though and know it was irrationally/possible jealousy (so just posting as an example)
