For me. I’m stumped and need some ideas please.

What I don’t like:
Vouchers of any kind
Anything to do with eating out, spa days 🤮, experience days (I was like this pre COVID)

I do like:
Vintage diamond or pearl earrings (stud not drops) but struggling to find within budget
Make up/beauty/skincare - thinking subscription but no idea what

Other ideas welcome!

PS £400 is a limit not a target Grin

For my best friends 50th I bought her a second hand Mulberry Alexa bag in an unusual colour.

She loves the fact it's a bit worn in already so doesn't stress about damaging it and it is something she would never normally treat herself to. It's a lovely bag to carry on a day out - or in the last year she's taken it to the supermarket a lot Grin

It cost me £350

For my birthday a few years ago my husband bought me a 'set' of dressing gowns from the white company - one thick waffle and one thin floaty one. I absolutely love switching between them. Oh and a bundle of their flannels, I love their flannels Smile

Impatientwino · 18/03/2021 20:27

To be clear, I'm not suggesting a flannel as a present for you! Just waffling on. I'll go now Blush

@Impatientwino ooh I do love a nice thick flannel Grin

Hmm I never thought about a pre loved iconic bag - great idea... I’m not a Mulberry person but you’ve got me thinking thank you!

Please can I ask where you bought the Mulberry from?

I would also dislike spa / activity days.
I don't wear makeup and my sink care routine consists of imperial Leather and Nivea.
I would like vouchers.for or something that I really like rather than just random ones. There is a local craft shop which I use do vouchers so that would be great but tho Argos vouchers would get used they are not very personal

Do your friend like the cinema or theatre perhaps vouchers or tickets for them.
keep an eye open for Cirque du Soleil start touring again they shows are fantastic.
How about going down the subscription route something like audible, Netflix magazines flowers one of them many food delivery boxes
So she gets a gift every month for for say 6 months or so .

Snooks1971 · 18/03/2021 20:52

@AlCalavicci it’s for me, but thank you so much - I love the idea of a flower subscription Smile

Ahh I've just realised this is for you not a friendConfused

If you like a drink how about some really fancy glasses either brand new crystal ones or something more vintage and stylish.
( and the drink to go in it of course! )

Or do I artwork / sculptures, in particular artist you like that you could buy something from you could easily spend £400 doing that

Tiffany silver? Not as fashionable as it once was but actually very classic these days. My sister got me a beautiful Tiffany silver ball pendant for my 50th.

I’m a little bit older than you and if I had to choose right now, I’d want an Apple Watch 6.

Impatientwino · 18/03/2021 20:59

@Snooks1971 it's actually a Facebook group run by two lovely ladies who know their stuff and do not allow any stuff for sale without them fully checking it out etc.

I've bought a few pre-loved things from there and been really happy. They are also happy to give their advice etc

DH gave me a subscription to the National Theatre at Home. Last year I got theatre tickets but that didn't work out so well!

We're going to buy a piece of art this year to mark our 50ths. Otherwise, what about a piece of jewellery, or a nice chair, or a projector so you can set up a home cinema, or a meal at a Michelin starred restaurant, or beautiful shoes, or a handbag.

motherstongue · 18/03/2021 21:07

I’d buy an inflatable canoe so I could paddle about on the nearby canal but I appreciate it’s not everyone’s bag 😂
I love jewellery so I’d probably use it to buy something vintage. I too like stud earrings (and have a sweet spot for pearls).
