Airpods won’t stay in!

Nc for this as some aspects may be identifying.

Treated myself to some airpods (just normal not pro)

They work fine technically speaking I’m very impressed actually but I have weirdly small ears and they will not stay in! (My small ears and so problems with earphones is something I’m sort of known for in real life which is why the nc)

I’ve tried different angles, cleaning/drying out my ears (not that they were dirty!) and they will not stay put! Especially the right ear.

The only solution I can think of is one of those tennis sweat headbands to hold em in place but I don’t really suit this sort of thing so while that’s fine when I’m home alone not so great for when others can see me.

I thought small ears is likely a problem for many women and children (and so mums will be aware of it) and so maybe some of you have had the same problem and found a solution? I hope so as otherwise I really like them

I don't have airpods but I have the same problem with my Samsung buds.
One I have to wear upside down to get any purchase, have you tried that. I tend to just wear the one that vaguely fits , I probably gave up too easily, hopefully someone with a better solution comes along.

Sexnotgender · 18/03/2021 19:12

Not sure how small your ears need to be for that to be an identifying feature...

I have difficulty with earphones too as I have small ears, weirdly apple headphones are one of the only ones I find comfortable. I’m not sure a headband would work.

OuiOuiKitty · 18/03/2021 19:15

I don't have airpods but have the same problem with earphones. I would never buy expensive ones without testing them out first for this reason. I have some Huawei ones that are probably the best fit I've had but it really is hit and miss. I don't know if I have particularly small ears but they must definitely be the wrong shape at least.

SayrraT · 18/03/2021 19:17

I'm not sure but if your ears are so small that someone might identify you from that fact then I dont think anyone else will be able to help as no one else will have suck small earsGrin

I think I've got average ears and if I have earbuds in and move (walk, run, talk, eat) they fall out so I usually do wear a headband. I wear headbands or hats all year round pretty much so no one thinks it looks odd.

Bargebill19 · 18/03/2021 19:17

I gave up with them and switched to aftershocks titanium’s. Absolutely fab and can hear the world around me at the same time.

FireBelliedToad · 18/03/2021 19:18

I have this problem! You can get hooks that they sit in and hook over the top of your ears.
I think mine are kuulaa sport hooks. Or a hat whilst running.

Bunnybigears · 18/03/2021 19:19

I cant wear any in ear headphones, I'm not sure if I have unusually shaped ears or what but I just can't use them.

RonSwansonsChair · 18/03/2021 19:19

Omg @SuddenArborealStop I have the exact same problem with my right Samsung bud. Just randomly falls out, luckily I've never lost it! Fingers crossed 🤞 I haven't jinxed myself now!

Akire · 18/03/2021 19:22

I think it’s a women thing. I can wear normal stick in ears but not pods they just fall out or you push them in so hard they really hurt for 5min then fall out. I wear wired ones so least don’t lose them. This is what we get with Unisex /men sized things

RogueV · 18/03/2021 19:23

The don’t stay in my ears either. Had to get some beats with the arch

underneaththeash · 18/03/2021 19:24

Nah - don't in my ears either. It's quite odd to think that one design would fit everyone anyway.

AlgonquinBay · 18/03/2021 19:24

I think you need some of these:

AHASTYLE AirPods Ear Hooks Covers 2 Pairs Silicone Antislip Earbuds Tips [Sound Quality Enhancement] for Apple AirPods 2 & 1 or EarPods (Large & Small, Clear) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07HG7PC4T/ref=cmswwrcppapifabcc_FHVVY2PMJF1BQYVETEK9

SuddenArborealStop · 18/03/2021 19:26

I feel this might be another one of the hidden problems with all designers using men as the default when deciding on specifications.
There are three size cushions to choose from for my ear buds , so they have considered that people need different sizes, however smallest one is still not a good fit for me Confused

AirpodHelp · 18/03/2021 19:45

Thanks all of you if only for reassuring me it's not just me!

I think it probably is another one of those men's world things again how annoying!

Earhooks!

I don't think the in ear ones will really help but it's reminded me as I had the same problem back in the day when they were popular that I had the same issue with a Bluetooth thing and had to buy a separate earhook thing cos the one that came with it didn't fit properly

An over ear one, any recommendations?

Jaw bones all the way. Light and stay in place no matter what you do
