How to move house with a cat that litters outside

hey there! so I'm planning to move house soon, but my cat litters outside (which I'm happy with) and so was wondering, what would be the best way to rehome him with us? Normally, at a new location you'd leave your cat indoors for around 2-3 weeks, but that's not really viable as he poops outdoors (not in a litter tray)
thanks!

Make him a litter tray full of soil. Just make sure you have the area around well covered as it goes everywhere.

You should really have a litter tray in the house anyway, even if it's rarely used. Get one with a lid and use soil as suggested. You'll have to keep him in.

We have an outdoor cat. When we moved house we booked him into a cattery for 4 days around the move. Collected him when everything was unpacked. He had to use an indoor litter tray for three weeks. It was fine.

Use a litter tray. Also gives you a chance to get to know the neighbours and make a good first impression before your cat starts pooing in their garden. If your cat walks on a harness you might speed it up a little, but only if they are already used to it otherwise they might get more scared.

We have started using natusan and even fussy cat likes it.

okay that sounds promising thanks! did he litter outside fine after the three weeks?

we did keep it at first, but even the once or twice (before we had a catflap) we forgot to let him out, he wouldn't touch the litter tray and had an accident on the floor instead smh

We just bought a litter tray and tried to keep them in for as long as we could after moving. It definitely wasn’t 2-3 weeks, I’m not sure it was even a week as they kept escaping. They knew what to do with the litter tray though despite usually being outdoor cats.

Boils my piss.

Have you tried ultraclumping litter? A lot of cats like softer litters and won’t use things like woodchip.

Hope you’re not moving to my street already got 4 that shit in my garden and they’re not mine!
