Sorry for this, but unsure if this is normal or if I should be phoning the GP in the morning or not!

Posted before asking for advice for identifying what was on my DD’s finger, it did indeed turn out to be a wart. GP confirmed and prescribed treatment and it seemed to be working. The skin around it peeled a little but she’s been wearing a plaster for a few days (airing at nights), it was shrinking in size, not much was coming off when filing though but otherwise it looked pretty normal until tonight when it suddenly seems extremely white and like it’s going to pop right out her finger leaving a massive (slightly bloody looking) hole in its place...? You can see under it, it lifts up but is still attached at the side of her finger by some skin. Is this normal?? Will she always have a hole in her finger if it does fall out?! DD says it doesn’t hurt at all, she loves how gross it is and keeps freaking her brother out. I’ve included pictures Envy (not envy)

Yes, that's normal, it should fall out shortly.

The hole will heal up gradually.

ChancesWhatChances · 17/03/2021 20:03

Thanks @Mintjulia No one warned me it’d fall out! I thought it’d gradually fade away like a scab or something Grin

Jeeze Louise. I opened the first pic and thought it was an arm. Pass me my smelling salts.

No experience of warts but verrucas leave a big hole and they are all part of this undesirable family so I am going to vote for it being fine. Hole is temporary in my regretful experience of verrucas.

@SummerHouse sorry, I was trying to get a pic that showed it was lifting up. Does look like an arm now you mention it Grin

Glad the hole is temporary too, DD probably less so Grin

Yes, it will heal, from the base of the wound upwards.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 17/03/2021 20:14

bless her grubby little heart for loving the yicky wart!

I think it's important to keep at it with the treatment, they can be very persistent and look like you have beaten them but they are still there!

Donotgogentle · 17/03/2021 20:15

That’s a great picture op. You may find your tribe over in Sporner Corner Grin

ChancesWhatChances · 17/03/2021 20:56

Well it’s fallen off in the shower. DD is even more delighted 😂

@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow do I still keep with the treatment once it’s fallen out? I’ve not put it on her tonight, she said it was stinging a bit after it came out so we’ve put a plaster back on it and left it for tonight.

@Donotgogentle I’ve just taken a nosey over there. Unsure whether I’m going to be sick or not, but I can’t stop scrolling the threads! Grin

if it's fallen out then I'd say the main work is done, but really keep a watch on it to check if it is healing or regrowing
