What job could I do? Feeling at a crossroads.

I’m about to turn 41 and feeling like I’ve got nowhere with my work life. I’d love to find something I enjoy and gives me job satisfaction.

In 2019 I got a job as an assistant manager in a shoe shop and loved it. The company were great to work for and the team I worked with were all brilliant. Unfortunately COVID happened and my store was closed down.

I was lucky enough to find another job quickly so I’m currently a (furloughed) store manager for a local independent clothes store. The job’s ok and the team are great but it’s run in a very old fashioned way by the owners who refuse to change. I often feel frustrated rather that feeling like I’m doing a good job there.

I’ve worked in retail for 19 years and before that I worked in the office of a family run company mostly taking phone calls, ordering equipment and occasionally using outdated software to type up letters etc. so don’t exactly have a wealth of experience I can call upon to land me a great job.

What kind of work could I do that would need the skills of customer service and retail without actually being another retail job? I want to do something else but I just don’t know what!

Thanks for your suggestion @DownWhichOfLate, I’d quite like to do that as a job, working with people and using admin skills would be good, however I can’t drive which I think would limit me 🤔
