If he paid via friends and family I doubt your ever getting the money back. There is absolutely no protection using this method which is why you should only use it when paying friends and family. If you want protection if things go wrong you need to use goods and services and pay the fees. Sadly, I can't see him getting a refund. I hope it wasn't a very expensive life lesson.

Sorry, on PayPal Friends and family transactions are not for buying and selling.
As the seller is already giving you the runaround I think that you must consider the money lost. Sad

Friends and family takes away ALL the buyer protection that PayPal can offer.

I'm really sorry this has happened to you.

As above. Friends and family is Iike paying cash. Unless the seller decides to refund your money is gone. Your only possible recompense is the small claims court if it was expensive.

Yes it makes a big difference unfortunately, it's unlikely you will get it back if you paid through f&f. You can carry on asking PayPal/bank but they're well within their rights to say no. Did the seller ask for payment through f&f? It's always a no, it's an expensive lesson many people learn the hard way. Even if his funds were blocked by PayPal there would be no reason he couldn't still send the item, so especially if he suggested the f&f payment it's a scam.

Oh yikes that's a tough pill to swallow, how old is your son? Sad Did the seller ask for payment through friends and family? If he dod I'm inclined to believe sadly there necer was an item to send in the first place.
