Covid vacc - side effects

Had AZ vaccine at 4pm yesterday . Fainted afterwards (was already sitting down) and spent a good thirty minutes lying on the floor in the hotel vaccine was done at . Got home, had a decent meal and bed by 10ish .

(Fainting was semi inevitable - I usually go funny with medical things and blood pressure normally runs a bit low too) .

I’ve woken up hot/cold, aching and stiff/heavy all over, head pounding and very lightheaded - feel like I’ve been hit with flu/bad cold . Managed up to pee and now wondering about the rest of the day - I’m in uni from 10-4.30 and have about four hours of placement prep to do in between time ...

Dithering over calling in sick to first class and going back to bed for a few hours - I can do the placement prep tonight .

Anyone else been in a similar boat? I feel horrendous .

Hi, sorry youve had such a reaction. I felt achey, sore joints and tired\headache since i had mine on thursday. I had covid in november and had more or less the same symptoms. Yesterday the injection site was red and hot. Today i feel better, i would rest if i was you, its a nasty virus and youve just been given a tiny dose of it.

I had mine yesterday morning. Felt OK most of the day, if anything a bit tired and headachy. This morning I feel rough though. I was drenched in sweat all night. I have a headache, feel like I've got a heavy cold. I plan on dosing up on paracetamol and watching TV all day.
Not at work until tomorrow so hoping Ill be OK by then.
Personally I think you should take a sick day.

No fainting here but yes to the rest of the side effects. I dosed up on paracetamol and cracked on, but I WFH so not so difficult for me.

I felt a bit better after 36hrs, then right as rain after 48.

I had sod all and I have various allergies? It was like brushing a paperclip in terms of effect.

Affects people very differently but no reaction here whatsoever. I'm glad it's out of the way.

Definitely glad it’s out the way yep ! I’ll email uni for first class and try to get up again shortly - definitely need to do placement prep later . I haven’t felt ill ill in ages so a bit of a shock . Thankfully it wasn’t at all painful .

I felt pretty crap the following day, every limb ached, felt like my legs weighed 20 stone. But take paracetamol you will feel better tomorrow. Just have a duvet day

Madcats · 16/03/2021 09:16

I hope you feel better soon, OP.

I had my AZ jab on Saturday. I was feverish that night and ended up taking flu meds the following day (and had a nap and an early night). I felt fine after 36 hours.

I felt similar, but not as bad, after my flu jab at Christmas.

Disneyblue · 16/03/2021 09:37

Yea all completely normal OP. Hope you feel better soon
