Rich House Poor House

I enjoy watching this but think it’s daft that the “ poor” family shop at small local stores. They could make their money go much further at budget supermarkets like Lidl & Aldi.

It's a stupid program.

Couple with 6 kids in a 3 bed house swap with posh couple with no children.

Hardly a comparison, the posh couple would never really get a feel for the over crowding aspect for starters.

Plus the exact shop thing you mentioned. It's annoying.

I didn't watched episode 1 because it wasn't an even swap. Single Mom with 3 kids Vs rich adult with parent. £60 for 4 people is entirely different to for 2. Accepting it's beams on toast again when you're 30 Vs 15. A bedroom each Vs sharing 3 to a room etc.

I'm half way through episode 2.

I suspect in reality the families do shop at Lidl or their local supermarket but you move to a totally new area with no car, they probably only leave directions for the local store. Someone moving into my house would use the corner shop or Spar, I use Spar but do my main shops at Lidl or Tesco.

The "debt folder" is always left somewhere easy to be found room. In reality you'd hide it of you were having strangers in your house for a week, or the letters would be in a mess everywhere, not nearly organised in the first drawer they come to.

I've never watched the show but there's a problem with some places being "food desserts"...basically only expensive little spar/coop shops in walking distance.

If you don't have a car and have to take DC with you on the bus then you could be looking at an £8 return ticket before you've even bought anything.

An episode of the one where the rich kid stays in a poor house was filmed near me (poor area 😂) and they did the whole shopping in a local convenience shop scene. There is no way that the Mum does her shopping there, when there are other supermarkets in the area. There is a Sainsbury's down the road and a Tesco and Lidl not too far away. Even factoring in the bus fare (London area) shopping in Lidl would be cheaper than the local convenience shop.

I say this every week! Even people who are rich don’t do a weeks shopping in their local convenience shop!!
