ECG & Cardiology

Hello, just after some reassurance. Iv suffered with panic attacks for years and recently had loads of ECGS done. Today I received a letter in the post (a copy that was also sent to my GP from my Cardiologist) the letter states: T wave inversion in V1 to V3 and 3 with poor R wave progression. Does anyone know what this means? I’m a 28yr old female and absolutely terrified.

Anyone?

I hope someone will be along in a bit who’s more knowledgeable than me as I’m not a doctor, just someone with heart problems.
Basically, what’s going on is that the electrical activity of your heart is a bit out of whack and it’s shown up on the ECG. This could be something but could also be nothing (it could even be that the ECG was done wrong...) so they’re going to want to redo it and maybe some other tests just in case. Generally speaking, the younger you are, the more likely any abnormal results will be benign but it could be the start of something so they will want to have a closer look.
Why were you having the ECGs? Have you been assigned a cardio yet? I would try and get hold of a doctor (preferably a cardio) to talk you through this is in more detail. I know what it’s like to get unexpected medical results and it’s not nice Flowers

Thank you. Iv had ecgs done for chest pains due to panic attacks. I was in hospital just last week for palpitations and doctor done an ecg and bloods and said everything is normal but the letter is regarding an ecg done back in late January. I suffer daily with anxiety and I’m on propranolol. Just hate living in fear 24/7 😢

Hi @MissD92

Did you find out what they mean?
I suffer from anxiety, recently had a panic attack (thought it was a heart attack) and my ecg shown inverted t waves, I'm waiting for appointment with cardiologist.
How old are you, if you don't mind me asking

Souther · 23/03/2021 17:34

This probably isnt the right place to ask.
Maybe have a chat with your GP.
Anyone could post anything and you would be even more anxious.

MissD92 · 23/03/2021 20:41

@GransKitchen I have spoken to a doctor and she said it doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong and that it could just be a bad ECG on the day. I’m 28 as well.

@Souther I have spoken with my GP. It’s ok for us to ask questions on here, I just wanted to see if anyone had the same sort of thing!

@MissD92 I'm glad you sorted it. I'm still waiting but feel really anxious about it

WorriedMillie · 24/03/2021 06:35

I had T wave inversion picked up at a routine ECG, plus repeat ECG immediately afterwards, had referral to cardiology, repeat ECGs and an echo, very thorough
Nothing abnormal was detected, I never did find out what happened and have been fine since (this was 3.5 years ago)

As GP kindly pointed out to me, if they were extremely worried, there’s no way I’d have waited for a cardiac referral, it’d have been sent straight to A&E Flowers

GransKitchen · 24/03/2021 08:05

Thanks @WorriedMillie.
Mine was picked up during a routine ecg, I have had echo which was normal and now waiting for appointment with cardiologist but it's reassuring to hear others have had it and it has been nothing.

MissD92 · 27/03/2021 15:32

@GransKitchen I’m suffering every day and night with heart palpitations! I can feel them in my throat as well. It’s happening a few times each minute. I’m so scared!!

OP posts:
GransKitchen · 27/03/2021 17:29

@MissD92 have you been back to GP?
It's horrible isn't it, I have that too but I don't know if mine is anxiety because I'm worried about the ecg results

MissD92 · 27/03/2021 17:33

No I haven’t yet. I’m going to call Monday and see what happens. I felt awful this afternoon. It’s funny what our bodies do to us! Sending a virtual hug your way 🤗 💐

Sorts. I hate being like this. Thanksto you, let us know what the gp says and I'll let u know what cardiology say to me

MissD92 · 27/03/2021 20:05

It can be a normal variant especially in young Afro Caribbean women (found with a quick google and a little knowledge) please see your gp for your anxiety.

Formybabies · 17/08/2021 10:11

How you doing @MissD92 x

MissD92 · 14/07/2022 19:35

So sorry I haven’t logged on here in a while. @GransKitchen how did you get on with your cardiologist?

Im still having problems. Had a bug a few days ago, palpitations non stop, high BP and elevated HR, told to go to a&e. Had ecg done which came back abnormal, repeated 4x and all the same! They thought I had a heart attack 😩 I was so scared. I had every blood test you can get and that showed no heart attack, all bloods normal.

Today I had to go for a heart scan, everything fine, would this have picked up a heart attack?

I am now waiting on an urgent appointment for a cardiac MRI. Not sure what this means but just want to get to the bottom of it all.
X
