My shiny new car is arriving tomorrow! What do I need to check?

Never bought a brand new car before and mine is being delivered tomorrow. The smallprint said something along the lines of to check it over tomorrow as when they leave after the delivery any problems become mine (if any).

Please can you wise lot tell me what I need to be checking?

Check everything, everywhere. Heat, air, engine, radio, directionals, lights, brake lights, upholstery, exterior, windows, everything. Record any problems and take pictures. Don't for one second feel pressured to hurry your inspection.

Check for scratches, very carefully. Check its exactly the car you ordered. Enjoy the new car smell. 😁

Anything else should be covered by the warranty.

My shiny new car had a dent in the front passenger door and a wonky numberplate.

Turn the ignition and check the dash lights. I had one delivered with the tyre pressure warning light on once. It had a bloody nail in the tyre, I ended up having to get it recovered to a garage and paying for a new tyre because the dealer took no responsibility.

They sorted it out. The delivery guy was upset they would think it was him. Turned out they had a really cramped yard and someone had probably damaged it before it even went on the low loader. The numberplate was just sloppiness screwing it on.
