Yes I got that. I didn’t respond but I did double take

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 15/03/2021 17:52

Yep unfortunately the elder generation (parent of mine) just about nearly fell for it after nearly being scammed a week previously.

I don't know how else to explain to them to not click or open any links like that.

It's scary how easy some people are pulled into it so easily but they prey on people.

Bloody terrible

Bloodybridget · 15/03/2021 17:56

Oh yes, DP got that text last week, we agreed it must be a scam and then she asked our postman, who confirmed it.

TitusPullo · 15/03/2021 17:57

Yes I got this too, I am expecting an overseas parcel so did a double take before thinking how would they know my number.

MarshaBradyo · 15/03/2021 18:04

My text was from a standard mobile which made me realise it couldn’t be right.

Sceptre86 · 15/03/2021 18:08

I have received this too and whilst I didn't respond did double take. I realised it was just from a random mobile number but I can see how easily people could be fooled.

AnExcellentWalker · 15/03/2021 18:14

DH has had one of these. Deleted it as his phone number wouldn't be on the outside of a parcel, & even if it was, the Royal Mail always put a card through the door rather than texting him.

Elderflower14 · 15/03/2021 18:59

My friends daughter filled it in and the scammers tried to empty her bank account.

Thanks for the warning!

Looseleaf · 15/03/2021 21:13

Thank you for the warning and bumping too,

Awful how many scams and thefts there are in this climate when people already vulnerable in many senses

Trumplosttheelection · 15/03/2021 21:17

I just got the text. Ignore

funtimefrank · 15/03/2021 21:31

My 11 year old got it on her phone that she's only had since Christmas - her first scam bless her.

She was super well trained and showed her dad and clicked on nothing. I got it a few days later as did my other dd.

terrywynne · 15/03/2021 21:42

I got that one the other week. Am expecting an overseas parcel so it was plausible- spent some time googling customs fees and how Royal Mail inform you of them.

When I got it this particular wording wasn't listed as a scam (though similar ones) so I reported it to Royal Mail. I hadn't done that before but realised we should all report these not just delete them so that they go on lists of scams - got an EE message the next day so reported that too.

DD2 fell for that last week. Fortunately she realised a few seconds after she had done it( she just wasnt paying attention) and notified her bank before any harm was done but she has now had to change her bank account and all direct debits etc. She is furious with herself but its so easily done.

OliviaBensonsEyebrow · 16/03/2021 08:15

Yep, my mum and I both got it. She clicked on the link, thinking she had a Mother's Day gift on the way. Thankfully the link was broken so she couldn't type in her bank details.

Did she just click on the link or did she give them her bank details?
Borntohula · 16/03/2021 08:18

Nearly got me, I'm ashamed to say. When it asked for my sort code and account number was when I realised it wasn't legit. And as pp says, how would they have your number?

dementedma · 16/03/2021 11:00

Gave them her bank details! Very out of character as she’s pretty smart but was distracted and not thinking. Lucky she realised immediately

I got an Amazon pre recorded message today which was so obviously a scam so I hung up, within minutes there was an email claiming to be from Amazon.
I signed up for a new bank account with Lloyds recently and since then have had so many scam calls I'm thinking they've shared my details!

OliviaBensonsEyebrow · 17/03/2021 17:16

I've had another text from Royal Mail today. The "fee" has gone up from £1.99 to £2.99 !

Elderflower14 · 17/03/2021 17:28

Mine was £2.99 the other day!
