Smart meter auditors

Had a smart meter installed a few weeks ago from Eon. This morning, an auditor called round asking to check the meters outside and inside. I'd had no warning of this from Eon and felt a bit unsure. He was in his own car though had an Eon ID badge and cap. I said it wasn't convenient and we've made another appointment for later in the week - anyone else had smart meter auditors round?

I had someone who said he needed to read the meter. Our smart meter has never worked and DH sends the readings at the start of every month. I had no intention of letting anyone into my house who doesn’t need to be there. I told him to go.

Id contact Eon, getting the info off their website, aking them if this is genuine and why no notice
