I'm in 2 friendship groups that chip in and get presents for big birthdays... mine is coming up and I've been asked what I want from each. What would you get?? I have zero ideas.

Beer garden gift vouchers and a new post-lockdown outfit. Or....
Nice candle
Manicure and pedicure, facial
An experience

Muck boots
Kindle Paperwhite (would possibly have to be reconditioned to keep it under £100)

I’m drawing a blank for the £40...

custardbear · 14/03/2021 16:09

I'd get vouchers to go towards a lovely sun lounger as not likely holiday abroad this year ... again! #fed up with blankets on the grass 🤣

TheSockMonster · 14/03/2021 16:10

Oooo, how about a large houseplant? Patch plants and Beards & Daisies have some fairly indestructible ones.

KineticSand · 14/03/2021 16:13

Fab suggestions! I have an Olivia Burton watch that I love, and I love my kindle paper white too.

Love plants too but I am giving them away at this point, I have so many.

My back up idea if I can't think of one for the £100 is garden centre vouchers.

I had a 3 month gin subscription and a 3 month hotel chocolat subscription and really enjoyed those

Chasingsquirrels · 14/03/2021 16:38

At the moment, some new garden pots.

ElderMillennial · 14/03/2021 16:40

A Fitbit or other fitness watch with the £100

With the £40 my favourite perfume

ajandjjmum · 14/03/2021 16:48

New loungewear - as I'm hardly wearing anything else at the moment!

Books. Walking boots. Perfume. Bamford handwash for my use only.

Jaffajam · 14/03/2021 16:50

A Neom wellbeing pod?

NeverTrustaRabbit · 14/03/2021 17:12

For £40 I'd suggest a Tom Ford private blends atomiser (10ml if EDP- Noir de Noir or Rose Prick

For £100 I'd suggest something from Monica Vinader.

But it all depends on your taste and what you normally buy yourself as to whether stuff like that is treat-y enough

WellTidy · 14/03/2021 17:25

Armani silk foundation

Jo malone/diptyque candle and room spray

M&S loungewear

Silk pillowcase

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/03/2021 17:40

£40 - new fountain pen and notebook / some perfume (or maybe a Penhaligons sample set or a Juliet has a Gun sample set) / Aveda hand cream and foot cream / books / earrings / salt lamp /
£100 - a ring or bangle / Longchamp bag / night in a hotel when we can

katscamel · 14/03/2021 18:22

Beauty treatment/spa voucher, perfume, something for my garden, gin, books ...irregular choice shoes... sure I can think of a load more things.

TokyoSushi · 19/03/2021 16:40

Just to say thank you for this thread, I was struggling to think of what I wanted for my own birthday, a little Monica Vinader box has just been dropped off by the postman addressed to DH, I'm fairly sure that in an all too boring for Mumsnet twist, it actually will be for me on Sunday! Grin

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/03/2021 16:47

£40 - beauty salon voucher for a massage or facial (although in our friendship group we have been making the voucher to show what we intend the gift to be for and giving the cash to protect against business closures)

£100 - gin subscription or a gold chain

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 19/03/2021 17:25

£100- velvety weighted blanket
£40- lush bubble bars and hotel chocolate
