Help please! You're making a video for your child's 18th, what music do you add?

I'm stuck.

All the music I have tried just makes me cry, and the video is meant to be happy not emotional!

Any ideas?

He's turning 18, away from all family, and everyone has sent me a video that I'm putting together for him. It needs music!

I want to cry anyway as it feels so wrong that he's away from home on his 18th. I need to make this happy!

Tubthumping by Chumbawumba but thats because it samples 'Oh Danny Boy' but its not sad like the actual song "oh Danny Boy' and his name is Daniel known as Danny by his Great Grandad

fitzbilly · 13/03/2021 18:57

Oh I was going to suggest time of your life by green day but maybe not if you want to avoid emotional

Jalapinot · 13/03/2021 18:59

What was number one when he was born?

LolaNova · 13/03/2021 19:01

What about songs released/top of the charts in 2003?

Some absolute bangers on there!

That song is called Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) and is an ironic piss-off to an ex, not the beautiful message that people think it is!

Are there any songs that both you and he like?

fitzbilly · 13/03/2021 19:05

Tubthumper is too emotional, I just tried it! Sad

Good idea to look at what was number one in 2003 I'll have a look

I suspect whatever I chose I'll do be a blubbering wreck

All Star by Smash Mouth? Well known, not sad at all!

Bunnybigears · 13/03/2021 19:10

I was literally just going to say All Star by Smash Mouth

fitzbilly · 13/03/2021 19:11

Thanks will try that!

@FromDespairToHere ah I had no idea! I’m generally pretty terrible with interpreting songs 🙈

Bunnybigears · 13/03/2021 19:12

Or Keep on Movin by Five

sorryiasked · 13/03/2021 19:15

How about something like by Two Steps From Hell - they do film sound tracks etc so it doesn't date.

fitzbilly · 13/03/2021 19:28

Love that sorryiasked, I've saved it, is a bit emotional still but lovely

Maybe it's just me that's emotionalSad

Memories by Maroon 5 Smile

oohmyback · 13/03/2021 20:26

All the songs they have liked throughout their life. For my eldest that would include some status quo, Aerosmith, Carly Rae Jepson, Beatles, pink, sister sledge (lol), Katy Perry... it's a long list of eclectic (and often questionable) taste!

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 13/03/2021 20:34

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Firework by Katie Perry
Ca Plane Pour Moi by Plastic Bertrand
Run Boy Run by Woodkid
Jerusalema

RolloTomassi · 13/03/2021 20:42

Definitely Shine by Take That!

MrsTophamHat · 13/03/2021 20:54

At my 18th, we all danced to Here I Go Again by Whitesnake. That was quite good.

artquejtion · 13/03/2021 22:26

You want something uplifting !
